Reading an article like this does nothing but make me feel quite weak and ill. Thinking that people in a country like the USA are treated like nothing more then a pair of hands really really bothers me.

I read sooo many articles written by these company CEO's or whatever, telling the reader how they are now customer focused and how great they are doing, but the honest truth is they treat their employees as if they aren't human.

Companies need to learn that it's their work force that makes them what they are. I'm sure they believe they are being effictive by getting rid of "bad" workers who complain and want better standards, but have they ever really just taken a step back and wondered how much BETTER production would be if they were to treat their workers with respect and give them the security they need and desire?!?

  15. No Remote Control on Review: Nex II CF MP3 Player · · Score: 1

Although some people might find this to be a minor flaw, I would have liked to have seen it have a Remote Control that sits between the player and the headphones. As I like to put my player (minidisc/mp3) in my jacket/backpack, it can be a royal pain having to fumble around for the player, just to change tracks. Or for example using a tape converter in car to listen to your mp3s, can become quite dangerous if you have to muck about with the player to change tracks.

I may be wrong, and perhaps there is a remote control for this product, but from looking at the pictures I could not see one...

I can still remember moving over to emacs as my main development tool as if it was yesterday (it was actually only last year, but anyways).

I started working at a dot com (still around actually BusinessEurope.com where all the developers were Borland JBuilder users. I of course rode the band wagon and used JBuilder like the rest. Then about a week later after starting a young Swedish man started working for the same company. He compelely blew everyone out of the water with his knowledge and skill. I was just in such amazement and noticed that opposed to using Jbuilder like the rest he used Emacs. When questioned he slated Jbuilder stating that a real programmer should know what he's doing and not need all the fancy auto complete functions that Jbuilder supplied (and which the other developers claimed were invaluable). I tried using Editplus to hatch some sort of inbetween house but it just didn't cut it and soon I was completly turned to Emacs. I haven't looked back since and I urge all my friends to use it now when discussing IDEs.

Good on you Emacs and thanks for showing me the way...
