caused me to lose interest in programming because it was increasingly difficult to imagine what the computer was really doing when it was executing my code
read this paper from bjarne stroustrup! it explains how multiple inheritance and polymorphism are implemented. you'll love it! it's a must read for anyone that calls himself a c++ developer.
The template system is still not a generics system
and that's what most people like about it. let's hope it stays that way.
but an ugly cut & paste macro system which can incidentally be used for generics, with some caveats
below is what scott meyers says in the recommended reading section of "more effecive c++". you should get familiar with that author.

Scientific and Engineering C++, John J. Barton and Lee R. Nackman, Addison-Wesley, 1994, ISBN 0-201-53393-6.
The first part of the book explains C++ for FORTRAN programmers (now there's an unenviable task), but the latter parts cover techniques that are relevant in virtually any domain. The extensive material on templates is close to revolutionary; it's probably the most advanced that's currently available, and I suspect that when you've seen the miracles these authors perform with templates, you'll never again think of them as little more than souped-up macros.
that also happens to be the frequency of the water molecule, and that's why microwave ovens work:) all devices that emit radiation at 2450 MHz can be regarded as microwave heaters.
i can't stop wondering... if i were a slashdot editor, why would i release a story that misspells the version number of a very popular and important opensource application? the frontpage of mozilla.org clearly says "Firefox 1.0.2 for Windows, English (4.7MB)". is it so hard to get?
well, what do you have to say about this then?
this company doesn't seem to be in decline these days...

exactly. parent should be modded up. the previous posts sound very educated, but only if one does not start thinking about what hash algorithms have to do with keys!
a "linguistic language"? well, that would be nice! next we may want devices than can do "angular rotation" or "linear translation". it's also high time to have "kid's pediatricians" and "eye ophthalmologists" available at the hospitals.

with a recent patch by Martin Koller the multicolumn view in konqueror will no longer truncate filenames. this was one of the most irritating aspects of the filemanager for years. thanks Martin!!!:)
------- Additional Comment #18 From Martin Koller 2004-12-04 13:07 ------- CVS commit by mkoller:
BUG: 42587 GUI: The maximum text width used in konqis multi column view is now configurable in konqis appearance dialog. The default is 600 pixel, which should be enough to not wordwrap the files text. Now the iconview determines the column width dynamically, so it's no longer fixed for all columns.

that's how all the stars have been working till the beginning of time. and the H-bomb too. the only problem is that we can't make it happen in a controlled and effective way.
Asimov is a lightweight??? Man, you need to read some of his books before talking, seriously...
the nvidia kernel module is not binary, it's compiled from source. it's not GPL however. the OpenGL drivers are binary.
Internet?
no, tube is what internets pass through.
Symbian is written in C++.

Absolute time however, cannot really be known
:)
last time i talked with my friend einstein, he told me that there was no such thing like absolute time.
anyone else getting the joke?
CmdrTaco, did you mean "Apple Releases Mega Patch to Fix 19 Flaws" or "Apple Released Mega Patch to Fix 19 Flaws" in the title?
