to be honest we all weren't all that sure if they were going to support maemo/meego or drop it at some point.
the N900 is a nice device but its not THE ultimate device. the N8 is better hardware than the N900 yet runs symbian.
Nokia could choose a zillion different ways. And still, we won't be satisfied until the next Meego device comes out.

And we're all waiting for Nokia at the corner here. The next Linux based device they make better kick some butts. That is, compete directly with the iPhone while at the same time retaining the advantages of being a lot more open than android (which makes N900's small success).

I mean like installing pidgin or aircrack or whatnot if you feel like it is pure awesomeness for a programmer, nerd or geek whatever u call it.
Besides, while doing this, still being able to use it "like and iphone" as in nice, lagfree and easy, for when you actually need the phone to be reliable.. that's double awesomeness.

That's something no one delivered yet.

    Stupid, but predictable human behavior.

Sense is only secondary, as long as it sounds "logical enough" on the moment to boast your "team" and diss the "other teams", they're going to post it. I'm sure i'm doing that mistake too from time to time, but I hope not too often, at least I certainly try to take things with criticism from every direction.

Hardware wise it's not good enough anymore. If i change phone I want the hardware to be at least as good at the N8 and record 720p and things like that.

In fact.. Meego (yes the name sucks) on the N8 would be sufficient. By sufficient i mean it would be an awesome device :P

However processes use a lot more memory. Firefox uses way, way less memory than Chrome when you have a few tabs open.

Also, the browser should not crash. But if it does, it restore the session, but seriously, that rarely happens on Firefox (yeah, Chrome tabs crash all the time, but that's Chrome's fault... flamebait maybe but one could argue tab-process encourage buggy code since it's no big deal when a tab crashes)

The only things the browser does not have control over are plugins, and they're not in their own process, which is cool. Extensions are a more complex matter, I suppose they could still bring down everything with own process tabs.

I'm not sure the security added by sandboxing tabs into processes is worth the trouble right now. It's some kind of hack after all.

The point is that this policy _did not exist when you bought the phone_, you are then FORCED to accept the new policy if you want to be able to get more apps, or just updates the ones you own. Oh yeah, you can also sell the phone for a lesser value than you paid for it, and likely you're subsidized so you're going to have to pay a new one full price like $500 or $600 (while your subscription to AT&T still makes you pay money for the first iPhone of course!).

What you need is simply more data to be accurate, if you combine name (phonetized) and address it's already better. Then there's quite a few other things to take into account, but anyway..

That's open wifi in my eyes. Sure, sure it sounds short minded, but then again let's take yet another fine analogy.

You're talking to your buddy on your analog CB radio (citizen band). Now a dude on the same freq while you're driving by shout his stuff and you get to hear it..

An analogy is never completely accurate, but your analogy is very far from accurate and very misleading in my eyes. (which happens 90% of the time an analogy is written, no worries!)

On the other hand you can't fire someone who has been elected and his party. Most of the time they get elected because they appeared better, due to larger money, influence, and probably some "bad guy stuff" giving them the edge.

Now, it doesn't mean the German govt is especially bad and corrupt or Google especially good. Simply, that it's hard to base such judgment on that alone.
