Besides the technical differences one of the things you may want to do is check toner costs. Our department has a Lexmark High Output color printer and a full set of toner for all the colors costs about $1000. Happily we haven't had to replace them yet, but the bigger printer may prove itself to be much more expensive.
These would be the same questions I would want to see answered. I have 1.5mb/384kb for $60 a month from speakeasy, but as long as what I do isn't illegal they let me do whatever, including selling my service via wifi to my neighbors.
I like the fact that my internet connection is faster under Linux than it was under Windows XP. It's a real kick. If you have both running side by side, try comparing them sometime.
I do run both Linux and Windows XP. The bandwidth is the same.. XP by default enables qos which reserve 20% of your bandwidth for applications that support it. Just go into network properties and remove that protocol and there you go.
Not usually, although I believe it was Verizon or SBC that was offering DSL without having to have a phone line, to be more competitive to cable internet.
I've been very happy with Speakeasy, have had 1.1mb SDSL as well as ADSL with them. They allow you to run whatever you want, as long as its legal, with no problems.
I must agree I hate steam too. Although in it's defense the steam+content package that has all games is nearly 800mb. Sounds like you got just the CS+HL+Steam one.
There is an application that allows you to do what it appears you want, application is called Synergy. The cool thing is it's also crossplatform, so you could move your mouse from windows to linux. It's available from http:// synergy2.sourceforge.net
"Seniority should mean crap imo. I think this concept of seniority is blown to shreds when the less senior member of a department is more valuable and know more then the senior ranking member."
I fully agree, and that is currently the case. We have some people here, MCSE's that wouldn't know what to do with a server if it bit them in the ass.
Yes, I have. I was told there wasn't enough money in the budget, originally. Now my boss is looking into getting me a promotion, although HR specifies no more than a 10% raise for any promotion. So now I'm making $15k less than title and still less then the new hires if I were to get a promotion.
It really is quite easy to setup also. It took me a few minutes, and freessl.com and I had SSL POP3 and IMAP. With the TLS patch to Postfix I also compiled in SSL for SMTP quite easily.
As you said, Team Sound is the best but still has issues with compatability. Planetside has Team Sound 2 integrated within the game, it works suprisingly well. Team Sound 2 should be out pretty soon, I think that may just be what you need.
Who's reccomended today? I used to like IBM, they started sucking, got sued, sold their HD division. Had 2 of their drives die this month. I have a Western Digital 540mb HD from '94 that still runs fine. Had no problems with Maxtor either.
The first place I look is www.deja.com. There is so much information there that normally can fix whatever I have broken. As for IRC, check out http://www.freenode.net a very friendly helpful network.
I found this the other day (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail.php3?fid=104 9831315) Allows you to play mov and qt files without quicktime. It's worked very well for me so far.
I work for Kaiser Permanente. We still many Memorex Telex 1191 terminals and IBM 4124 printers in production. The most important application on our PCs is Attachmate Extra, a mainframe emulator. I'm 20 and didn't know a thing about mainframe when I started here 2 years ago. Now they've fired all the mainframe only guys that couldn't learn PC stuff so now knowing how to work on mainframe system is part of our job function. Happily we have an expensive contract with IBM so they repair all the hardware, but trying to figure out why a printer won't print from 1 of its 3 applications can be a real bitch. Kaiser is currently moving to an automated medical record system, which I think will finally start phasing out the mainframe systems. Of course that will probably be another 10 years.

Umm, it sounds like they client already has the product and has integrated it in their system. Now they just have to pay for it.
As for Flight Sim, I don't think WineX supports that yet. BUT Crossover Office does support Macromedia Flash MX.

and the top search item for this is http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/04/02/05/1930246.shtml ?tid=103&tid=99 how weird is that
except if they were that bright would they still be using aol to connect to the interweb?

Didn't work:(
Not industry set minimum, company HR compensation minimum.

Clive Barker's Undrying was one freakish game.

You may want to take a look at Gentoo (www.gentoo.org). Fully customized and has a freebsd-like ports system.
freessl.com provides free ssl certificates. I use one on my site and you don't get the error saying its from an untrusted source. Pretty cool.
Perhaps www.pornolize.com might be another interesting option.
