That the powers that be do not care one bit about the cattle... er consumer.
If this goes into effect with any really weight, I'd say it's time for some good old fashion protest vis-à-vis an all you can eat pirating fest across the globe. Start mailing your grabbed goods on disk to MAFIAA members, pols, etc.
We're inching closer to a point where something has to give in this system. I say nerds unite. The internet was built on the backs of our nerd fore-bearers. Time for the nerds of today to stand up and defend it.

If a student is performing well, give them higher level content. This "everyone is the same because we say so" and keeping a linear structure to learning for all is asinine.
I mean during the install. Yes you can tell My Docs to reside elsewhere by right clicking, or do reg hacks and other obscure trickery, but I'd like to tell it right from setup "Put my profile here" or point it to a partition that already has my profile on it (from an old install).
Uhm, they also take up a huge amount of server disk space, so the server/admin teams have decided not to implement them. We're a public uni w/ a budget crunch.
Also, this would be useful for more than just enterprise users. When I upgraded from Vista to Win7 @ home I wouldn't have had to copy everything over to a spare disk then BACK over after install. Dur.
It isn't that he raped anyone's childhood per se. Back in 1977, Star Wars had massive general appeal because it was just that different. Come 1999-2005, all we got were 3 movies that only stood out as Star Wars because of the intro logo. On OPENING NIGHT, at a midnight showing for Phantom Menace, there were people walking out of the theater I saw it in; a big difference from people getting back in line for the orig Star Wars. They didn't offer people anything engaging and new as the originals did for their time and I think people who really clung to that felt let down. Those that I talk to that have that "raped my childhood" mentality, recognize they still can relish those old memories, but were really looking for that magic again and felt boned.
Why? They released the unedited versions to DVD. Granted that weren't cleaned up or anamorphic, but certainly will be better quality than your VHS transfers.
Between the constant refresh releases of Tom Clancy titles, PoP and shitty movie tie-ins, Ubisoft hasn't exactly released anything I want to buy/play anyway. Now with this BS, fuck 'em I say.
Did you read the link you provided? It looks like most of the instances where Rambus "lost" were overturned on appeal. The FTC has tried to go after them as well, only to be smacked down. It seems the only thing they've been losing is, well, nothing, as they either settle out of court or win on appeal.
I never fully believed it, but for some reason I am rather annoyed that it actually looks that way (over certain things at least). I just went to whitehouse.gov and pasted a link to the/. story along with words of disappointment. Also I may have suggested I'd have been better of writing in Mickey Mouse in 2008 - since, like my hopes for Obama's "change", he too is a figment of my imagination.
One of the big differences here is that those bugs are fixed and were fixed rather quickly. How long will we have to wait for MS to do anything about this one? Will they simply suggest people use 64-bit Windows? They're going to take a stance that they feel best benefits them and, until they do, Windows users are in the dark and fucked.
The internet has made things easier. By simply being on it, you open yourself up to online stalking, identity fraud (it's not theft), Nigerian scammers, etc. If you're online, you're out there, plain and simple.

"This applies to..."
Windows 2000/2003
Have you tried it on WinXP or Win7? I expect it would work for XP, but we're likely moving to 7 as a base soon.

A similar thing happened where I work (uni campus), although due to config errors, not a timebomb.
400 machines got imaged and we're scrambling to collect drives, install new ones, reimage and then run recovery on the old orig drives.
Microsoft really needs to add the ability to set user profiles on a different partition, as you can w/ UNIX.
Shitfinity. Shit for as far as the eye can see.

I think nerds are poor communicators.
Set your voicemail to "Yes, we know this is down. Check your e-mail." or some such and shut your ringer off. Works for me.

I think it's part of that whole "Without the fans, he wouldn't have had the money to make the new trilogy." mentality.
If so, I hope they have their checkbook out
Slashdot covered it, so it must be legit!
With words of encouragement that the internet be free and open for all to use and communicate via?

My advice: Find a new job.
It's done wonders for my stress levels.
I seriously read that as Dagobah

This is just hitting /.? It's been all over the nets for 2-3 weeks. Perhaps /. could stand to hire some of R*'s management :P
3. You forgot Apollo 1. Unless you left them out because they weren't actually in the air.
Someone buy this and tell me if it's any good
Death and Return of Superman for 16-bit consoles was pretty crappy.

I was mostly referring to your comment about the gameplay being a joke.
Why do all games have to look the same?
