"Products do get pushed back, yes, their stock is down 96% (Sounds familiar), sure, they've changed CEO's a couple times...it's called 'business'."
Sounds more like Apple than AMD actually. It's never over 'til the fat woman sings, but remember these are the same "analysts" who constantly call for Apple's failure, on an annual basis.
I really hope they (Transmeta) don't get eaten up and disappear, because the more competetion (no matter how lacking) the more progress.
Actually, if you know where to go and get them in bulk, they can be really cheap. We use them all the time at the graphics firm I work at. The only problem is that they only hold 185MB.
On a side note, the band Bullfrog has released three singles on this media.
Apple is being distroyed by the rumors that are being created. When they announce that they are going to have a new product, everyone thinks it's going to blow their worlds. Rumors start flooding in about even the most outragous products ( I even heard a few "sources" mention teleportion) This is getting plain stupid.
Apple is a normal company. Why does the public constantly expect them do the impossible?
Because Mac hardware is great hardware. I use a G4 at work (with OS 9.2.1) a G3 at home (with OS X) .
The problem isn't with the market (Apple ship millions of Mac every year) but with support. But all of that is changing. Just look at the amount of Linux distributions that are coming out. Look at the number of Slashdot readers that have discussed there own Macs or about purchasing one.
Don't be so ignorant about Mac hardware and popularity.
My next computer purchase will be a used 9600 Power Mac and I am planning on installing YellowDog on it. I know of at least 3 other people that already own a Mac with Linux on it.
I am also trying to convince my employer to let me install Linux on the 8600 at work.
Thank god. You assholes can do what ever you want to you messed up little OS, but if anything like this reader gets released for Mac OS I will be mighty pissed.
I think it's about time that someone puts M$ in their place, 'cause this is just one more step to absolute control.
I think the real story here is the fact that IBM is now pushing the PowerPC line. With the news that Motorola may be jumping the AIM processor ship, I think IBM is now looking to take it in a whole new direction.
Now instead of the "Intel Inside" it will be a "Powered by IBM" or even just the good-old "PowerPC" logo.
Who knows, but it looks like the dismay of Motorola may not be the demise of the PPC.
"A friend of mine at Apple who works on OS X has told me for years that "it's almost ready". Heh heh. I wonder if this is for real? Personal experience has shown me that Apple is perfectly willing to ship buggy software w/o full testing, so maybe they will ship it this time.:)"
Ummm.... re-read what you just said. they've been delaying it's release for years now, but they also will just ship out almost anything. You're just contradicting yourself meh-boy!
But that method of anti-piracy is asumming you'll be connected to a network. So if I was playing a pirated game or dvd, all i'll have to do is unplug (if I actually am connected) my network.
I mean, Mac users have been changing and adjusting their GUI for years. From what I know, long before any other operating system. It was just a matter of time before people started messing around with OS X to change the outlook and functionality.
The only ironic part is that there are a bunch of themes out there trying to copy Aqua, and here we have a group of users trying to change their Aqua.
What are you talking about?? The G4's (other than the cube) all come with PCI slots, a 2x AGP slot and firewire.... plus room to add new internal components...
and speed is their biggest problem... they've been held at 500 MHz for almost a year now.
"Apple too has been hurt by this. If they'd opened up the Apple to clones around '89, they would own the desktop by now."
That's one of the most innacurate statements made. First of all, no hardware company in their right minds would ever want to be cloned (PC clones were done against the wishes and actions of IBM). Sony loses money for every PSX2 sold, Apple makes money and would NOT ever benefit from clones. It happened in the past and they learnt their lesson.
I really hope they (Transmeta) don't get eaten up and disappear, because the more competetion (no matter how lacking) the more progress.
Let's keep our fingures crossed.
Most people buy a gaming console for games. We buy computers and/or computer parts to hack around with.
Honestly, this is the dumbest reason to buy an XBox.

>>3) Seems to be a rip of of MacOSX
If anything, that SHOULD be the reason to buy it.
Luckily, OS X runs just peachy keen on my 'pute.
yes.... no.
i'm drunk. i meant teleportation.

Currently, I'm using OS X on a G3 300 with 192 MB RAM. Everything runs fine. I don't know what all these people are talking about.
Ofcourse, the more RAM the better, but you most certainly do not need 512. Thats just FUD.
Why was this modded down?

If that were true, think about how much better Windows 2000 is than everything else.
My operating system is only at 10.1.
Actually, it's easy enough to explain.
Anything written in the Cocoa API understands the second mouse button and scoll, but anything written in the Carbon API won't.
Thats all.
You're wrong.
Pass on the laughter. Make someone else smile.

Doesn't make much sense to me.
Seriously, should anyone be surprised by this?

Basically, every other company was betting on DDR, so it was just gunaa be a matter of time until Intel realized that RAMBUS won't compete.
Amen!
Its about time someone explains the fact that Mac users can be just as "geeky" as any other computer user.
And it's totally true that no one should put down an operating system until they use it... unless of course it was made by Micro$oft =)

So do you think i could sell my snot to Microsoft yet??
Boy, I think my karma just dropped pretty darn hard!

3.14 out
Except for that little company called Nintendo and their Dolphin system...
