If the guy took his idea to every major car maker, he wasn't keeping it a secret. He had the proper protection in place. I don't think that many companies would try to steal an idea right out from under you now as they all know they are going to get sued, and if you have your patent in place then you ideas are protected.
Oh and before Apple made it big, Steve Wozniak was giving away plans for the Apple I and Microsoft got it start by developing BASIC and DOS, neither of which were actually originally Microsoft ideas.
You're forgetting that the car can drive itself. I'm sure the shows creators have considered the g forces involved with the braking and plan to only use it when there is no driver present.
Yeah who am I kidding... They are gonna ignore it... It would be an interesting theft counter measure though. Bad guy stills KITT. Gets it up to 300mph. Kitt jams on the breaks. Mushy bad guy.
I still think a good chunk of the military should use an entirely new OS, kernal and even framework, releasing to the public only after they move on from that.
That's brilliant! I've heard that security by obscurity is definitely the way to go...
1> I didn't say they had to be good ideas. Actually bad drunken ideas would probably be more interesting. 2> Then make requests about different ideas asking if they are interested or weather you can have them to yourself.
If you have to sign it to keep your job, I'd start flooding them with paper work. Go out with your friends for beer and start coming up with crazy ideas. Scribble them down and then find out who you're suppose to send them too. Maybe attach a letter saying that if they don't respond in writing in 30 day that you will assume you have the right to pursue the ideas on your own time without the company owning them.
He is a self-absorbed sculptor whose favorite medium is buildings. MIT has recently made the transition into having a bullshit, weak-headed administration, capable of being held rapt by shiny objects.
You mean he's just like every other well know architect. Frank Lloyd Wright pull the exact same crap. His roofs were notorious for leaks and yet he's still Americas best known architect.
Luck has nothing to do with it. That's the same sort of naive thinking that comes up with ideas like this. As long as the power company can recoup most/all of the added expense from the customer, they won't have any impetus to switch anything at all. The trick to that plan is to make cleaner technologies more profitable. Ideally there would be competition in the market so you could choose a cleaner, and therefore cheaper, power company.
No they probably won't care about your laptop, unless you make it easy for them to catch someone. The amount of leg work required vs the chance of catching someone aren't in your favor normally. If you tell them that your laptop is accessing ISP X with IP address x.x.x.x at 7:27pm. and here is the number to the ISP, it makes their life simple. They will be much more likely to do the work especially when all it requires is them to go knock on a door and get your stuff.
Yes, NTP is a "patent holding company" which exists only to sue legitimate companies for infringing on patents.
The problem isn't with "patent holding companies" but more with the patents they are given. It's perfectly legitimate for a company to buy someone else's IP and then go after companies that haven't licensed it from them. The original patten holder may not have had the cash or the willingness to market their patent. And if a small company holds a patent on something it's difficult for them to fight a company that is using there technology if they don't have deep enough pockets.
So why not sell it off to someone that can do something with it.
Now I'm not saying that this is what NTP is doing, but that is how the process should be working.
Without it, who knows what backdoors they could be offering; it's especially concerning since it's specifically designed to penetrate firewalls. Beware!
The same thing can be said about any piece of software. At some point you have to take the risk that your machine might be exposed.
I can see the forgetting bit. If I can pause and go get a snack or got to the bathroom anytime I want, I'll probably not thing about skipping the commercials.
Laywer Jack Thompson was killed in a tragic incident at his home a few minutes ago, early reports seem to indicate assassination by means of a thrown chair. The state of the scene have led police to believe a large ape like creature is to blame, local Zoo's have been contacted.
I used to be a sys admin for a medium sized company. Some people thought I was great, some people thought I was a jerk. If someone was nice to me and was willing to learn how to do the simple things them selves I was more than happy to help them. People who I had to show how to attach a file to an email seven times saw a less friendly side of me.
That being said, some admins are just jerks no matter how nice you are to them, and some users are unreasonable and demanding no matter how hard you work for them.
Umm... I hunted "alumina cement" down on Wikipedia, which states : Applications - in construction concretes, rapid strength development is achieved, even at low temperatures (truncated for clarity) Is that not the correct entry?
Cements are used in construction, but you wouldn't make a wall out of them.
Hence the quotes around "expert". You let me know when there's an on-line rating board for electricians, home appliance repair dudes, carpenters, painters, plasterers, plumbers, etc. and we'll talk.,/i>
That sounds like your billion dollar idea.. Get your self some venture capital. Oh wait that bubble already burst.
Even the regulated trades like plumbers and electricians are hit and miss. That's why you have to check references and go see their work.
I don't let "experts" into my house. I do the jobs that need to be done myself, unless the government mandates otherwise. Any time I've let "experts" come in to "fix" something, I've ended up having to spend twice as much to fix what they left.
If they didn't do it right, they obviously weren't experts. You should be more careful who you hire.
Most of the greatest minds have at one point been in fundamental disagreement with a larger community.
But I'm guessing the greatest minds don't cite Wikipedia as proof of there conclusions. As great as wikipedia is, for the most experts are not writing the articles. I would think that anyone beyond high school would be using more recoignized research material.
That's not to say that it doesn't have it's place in research. I think it's an excelent starting point. But being usered edited means you have to check the information
I'll only hate you if you have at least 20 billion more than me. And I don't think that Microsoft cares that I hate them either. As long as I keep using their products I think they can live with my contempt.
I thought about the prefered angle, I'm not sure that you wouldn't be able to overcome it. Really if could be something that is sort of attached to the IIS, floating with in reach of the arm and attached with teathers when it's actually taking photos. . That would take care of angles and vibrations. That would just leave the orbit problem.
But really what do I know. There is a reason I'm not building satelites myself.

is not the same thing as the House of Lords. The Law Lords is the highest court in the British Commonwealth.
So where do the time lords fit into that hierarchy?
Why does there need to be additions? THe value of the list is as a perspective into the world of ancient Greece. There's no need for a modern list.
Maybe the value of this list will be down the road when our current life is ancient.

A) Because the products aren't that good... They are often buggy and insecure,
B) They have way more money than me.
Either one of those is reason enough for me to hate them.
