If a movie is perceived as being a great film within it's genre, it will succeed regardless of who is in it. Look at Blair Witch Project (yeah, yeah, I know it's a love it or hate it flic, but it was wildly successful if you consider what it made compared to what it cost to make) and The Ring as examples.
The only thing that sticking a big name star into a movie will insure is that the movie will not completely flop. It's like insurance for mediocrity.
As the proud owner of a Nokia 3300(b) cell phone, I found myself wondering almost the same thing recently. Cingular has started advertising a new phone line with mp3/itunes support as if it's a hot new item. My phone (which is over two years old now) has 512MB worth of mp3s in it, which sound great when played back via the nokia dbus earphones. It also features nice battery life, probably twelve hours of continuous mp3 playback. True, it doesn't have itunes support, but realistically would you rather have a phone you can hook up to your pc and transfer mp3s off of your hard drive, or one that you have to pay $.99 for every song?
My phone also has a full keyboard, something I felt was a necessity for taking quick notes and because I'm a huge text message flirt. I'm wondering why this phone (the 3300) had such a small impact on the market when it's so feature rich? My guess would be the lack of any advertising done on its part. I do a lot of research before making any serious purchase, but I'm guessing the majority of America just buys whatever they see on tv most often, or perhaps most recently. Back when the 3300 came out those chintzy camera phones were all the rage and were getting all the tv airtime on commercials.
Maybe you should just consider yourself trendy and go around telling everybody you see with a video ipod "I could do that two years ago!":)
I get annoyed everytime I hear about how Bush ran away with the popular vote. It was 51/48 for Christ's sake! Reagan/Mondale was a runaway election, this one was actually pretty tight.
As of release, yes, you did need an nvidia card for 2k3. They addressed this in a subsequent patch. I'm betting any of the 8500 or higher radeons will run 2k4 out of the box.
It's true. I've been doing heavy lifting routines for a while now and I loaded on creatine three weeks ago. I didn't notice any funky odors (any more than usual that is) but the stuff will definately affect your digestion. I got to where I just about went and sat on the throne as I dosed.
Oh, and it absolutely works as a weight-lifting supplement, it's like mini-steroids.
I have to say it though--anime is an over-rated art form, at least amongst some crowds.
Don't get me wrong, I do prefer the sharper animation style, and some anime movies stand out in my mind as bordering on greatness. The problem, in my eyes, is that the script (or possibly the translation) in most anime seems to be aimed at adolescents.
In the barren landscape that is the fantasy movie genre, this stands out in my mind as a great movie that not many people know about. I'm hoping Disney brings it to DVD eventually . . .
Anyone who went through the Savage 2000 support debaucle back when SonicBlue was still S3 has probably seen this coming for miles and miles. Same shoddy management. Same poor marketing and end-user support.
Maybe when BW reimburses me for the money I lost from buying the game on launch day (since they had ZERO communication with the large-ish linux presence on their boards at the time stating they hadn't even started on the client port [and they hadn't]) and then selling it on ebay some half a year later.
They're a bunch of putzes. Anybody who hasn't followed their message boards every day for the past nine months really has no idea the depth of their incompetence. We won't be seeing any other linux ports from them one way or another, and I for one could care less.
I'm not sure what your source of information is, but seeing as how my grandfather was a construction worker who worked on Hoover Dam from start to finish--and a very honest man to boot--I can assure you that there indeed are skeletons enclosed within the structure.
Just in case the current "war" turns out the same as the old one, do you mind if I re-write that as "nintendo/sega war was as bad as the linux/windows war".
Jeez how do they get off writing game specific optimizations into their drivers!?! Thank God nVidia hasn't ever done something like this! I mean, where would the benchmark idustry be if things like 3dMark or even API's like DirectX were optimized for one brand of cards? God bless an open market!
Okay, maybe if you have a slower processor T&L can help out quite a bit. But as it stands, the current crop of T&L units found in nVidia and ATi products aren't a whole heck of a lot faster than letting a p3/athlon do it with their extra instruction sets (the S3 attempt was a heck of a lot slower).
In some situations the on-board T&L unit can actually slow things down. A considerable amount of data must be sent to and from the card when using hardware T&L. If you're already bouncing off the memory bandwidth limitation of your video card (1600x1200x32 anyone?) then you'll see little or no advantage to hardware T&L.
Of course I think hardware T&L units are generally a Good Thing. They're just a bit over-hyped IMHO.
I have been granted a patent on the concept of 'shape'. Therefore, you owe me licensing fees for each individually 'shaped' product you produce. You will be hearing from my pack of lawyers once I'm through feeding them.
from a functionality standpoint, at least. Audio Galaxy Satellite is very well done, it'll be easy for them to shut down when they get around to it though.
I bet after you use their service for a while, you'll wonder why Napster was so backwards =)
The lone gunman *is* getting a spin-off show, at least according to the ever-so-hip lingo at variety that I had to get my 4 year old nephew to help me decipher.

I don't feel like that at all--I'm more worried about my countrymen being seen as history's next Nazis.
Arggh!
I get annoyed everytime I hear about how Bush ran away with the popular vote. It was 51/48 for Christ's sake! Reagan/Mondale was a runaway election, this one was actually pretty tight.
You took the words right off of my keyboard.
:(
Imagine having to live in the middle of all those red states

You can use "San Francisco" units to describe anything near Uranus. Anything that comes near mine is getting run through the salad shooter!
In the US, we have found already a mountain of code.
In soviet russia, mountain of code finds you!

Was supposed to read:
Hey, honest mistakes happen.

Then again, maybe I'm just a grumpy old fart.

Good riddance.

There, all better.
I'm expecting my trademark on "pencil" any day now!
Tommorow I think I'll apply for a trademark on the letter e.

First thing I thought of when CNN flashed "America Strikes Back!" on the screen was The Empire Strikes Back.
The next thing I thought was "Uh oh, we're the Empire." . . .
They're all about less interference in a person's life . . . as long as that person is a wholesome, law-abiding, god-fearing citizen.

is becoming about as important as honesty in politics.
Either way, it's big money that's doing the talking.
