I currently work like this, being less experienced programmer. You know what, it was much better when I worked in pair with same level programmer. When both programmers are equally experienced (or inexperienced), the relationship is very friendly and motivating, as both persons are learning and helping each other.
When one of them is more experienced than the other, it immediatly turns into boss-subordinate relationship, which is not good. It turns out that not only you are at disadvantage and supposed to catch up on your own, you are constantly scolded for your work, while offering zero help for your mentor and irritating him with "naive" questions.

STL is ugly. Even the Qt framework provides a much cleaner and consistent alternative, than this "standard" library.
STL is also not good for any performance bound programs, not good at all. You can easily write code that looks nice, but silently kills your performance.

Passing the handling of hardware related bugs to developers is stupid. In that case videogames would support only specific system configurations and refuse to run on a different hardware. Do you want that?
Having said that, long ago I found a girl who I can talk about it freely, as she is into porn and video games herself. It didn't stop us from falling in love, having sex, then breaking up, staying friends... the usual relationship stuff. However I admit that there are much more people, with whom I don't know what to talk about. It's all about finding the right people, not about living your life in a social acceptable style.
Gaming and porn are just another way of having fun. The world would be a much better place if people stopped telling other people what they must do with their lives.

It reminded me of that I've read about how Chinese communist party came to power. In that time (before WW II) there were two parties struggling for power: nationalists and communists. But it's easy to mistake one for another, because both were totalitarian, pro-censorhip and anti-individualist (one party to rule them all), both were hunting down and killing their opponents, both had power-crazy sociopathic leaders with enormous egos.
And it continued to be like this in other countries throughout the XXth century. Some countries had nationalist dictators supported by US, other countries had communist dictators supported by USSR, sometimes there was coup d'etat, but one dictator was simply followed by another, and people were fucked once again.
Starting a romance at work is a very bad idea. Both for you, your spouse, your boss and colleagues.
Also, in my experience, environments with a good mix of men and women are less productive, exactly because of flirting, hidden jealousy and dick measuring.
