personally i think the original command and conquer(Tiberian dawn) was far more balanced most of blizzards games (mammoth tanks were invulernable to everything except infantry, no unit caps, no grouping caps, a better support structure), unfortuneatly later verisons just had too many features and units. It took blizard 2 games before they worked around creating two sides which were clones of one another. The only new gameplay element which blizzard added was the build queue and magic(i don't like magic after playing c&C).
personally i don't like blizzards games because of rushing. rushing doesnt work in a westwood game, because of more powerfull defensive units. usually you win in tiberan dawn because you were able to sneak an engineer in and take over the guys construction yard, while he was busy defending against a rush.
Just head over to mitsuwa plaza in edgewater. There is a mini-japanese mall, with a Kinokyunia (japanese book store which has a couple videos), japanese grocery store, an import video game/toy shop.
down the road is jcb or jbc books which sells used and new manga and magazines in addition to regular books.
Edgewater is right accross the hudson river( near the george washington bridge.
Additionally there are a bunch of places in NYC, including another kinokyunia and anime crash or something like that.
I'm not sure how anone can miss finding mitsuwa plaza if you live anywhere near NYC.

for some reason lucas wants to interject humor into the story (maybe in tribute to the kurosawa movies he used as inspiration), but it felt rather forced in those sceens.
I remember being a little kid and being annoyed at c3po and r2d2's role as the comic releif in the story, their joking antics really didn't add anything to the story itself, but their characters were usefull to the story.
3po's role in that part of the film wasn't necesscary for any other reason than to attempt to make people laugh(the only laughing i heard in the movie was when yoda turned into a bluring mess), r2d2 on the otherhand was useful.
lucas is aiming for a younger audience(or at least what feels like a younger audience than the original versions of the original films) so he has to make parts of the movie relate to little kids wether we as adults like it or not(and i don't).
yes that is true, but the problem is closing the gap. the guy with the longer sword/reach etc can hit you before you can hit them asuming equal speed between the two of you.
the way to close the gap is to feint or use multiple techniques.
watch the tyson/lewis fight from last weekend to see what only a 6" difference in height means in a fight.
there is some wire work in it(ibelieve jet li runs and flips off a wall at one point).
it is no doubt one of the best martial arts movies out there. unfortunatly disney's release of it is cut(the ending is slightly different, in the original ending, jet li trains a group of martial artists to fight the japanese, also a smoking scene at the brothel is cut) and dubbed in english(instead of japanese and either cantonese or mandarin, the funny part is that the dialogue was changed in the parts of the movie where english was spoken(like the court scene). this is too bad because what the judge says in english is funny. its also still 25 bucks at best buy.
you can find the hk dvd online, but it is dubbed in the wrong chinese(can't remember if it is cantonese or mandarin), it is definatly worth watching and i'm surprised it didnt make it to the screens instead of black mask.
"I don't understand why hollywood does NOT want their shows rebroadcast. Any exposure is good exposure for them, and will only increase the following of their so called entertainment programs. "
They don't want their shows rebroadcasted because of several reasons:
1) they don't get paid. If no one actually sits infront of the tv, the broadcasters won't pay them with the money they recieve with their advertsing income.
2) Hurts syndication rights which also hurts actors too. Actors can get paid residuals for when shows go into syndication (unless they were on the show giligans island and missed out on a ton of money http://www.gilligansisle.com/court.html)If everyone buys the dvd it hurts the value of syndication rights. Thats why you have to wait so long before tv shows go to tape or dvd.
3) Hurts dvd sales. why buy it when you can download it. Granted their is a quality issue, but this is moot when you have a replaytv or filesharing tivo.
Do most people pirate. No, it takes too much time and effort. Besides, at least in my experience most pirating college students wind up buying most of their media/software after they get money in the jobmarket.
Does the media need to change its business model? yes. the easiest way i see doing this is to bring back sponsorship to programs. For example, the reason soap operas are called that is because they were sponsored by soap manufacturers.
Remember with PVR technology, primetime isn't an issue, you can broadcast any content you want 24 hours a day, people will just watch it when they want. Besides, if you include 1-2 short sponsorship messages ala pbs before each program (i.e. 5-10 seconds) the time you save is not worth skipping. This basically means you can offer more content to your viewers since they don't have to be there to view it at a set time. A somepoint someone will catch on to this, probably once there is suffiecent dvr market penatratoin.

A working implementation of the patented process must be provided (upon request of USPTO)
The USPTO must conduct a good faith search for any prior art
These are already done by the patent office. an examiner my request a model of the invention. There is a guy know in the tire art that has a bunch of tyres in his office. When segways were being patented they had a bunch of them running around the halls of the office.
The patent office has to preform a search. you don't just use the references that the applicant provides. Lawyers respect the searches that patent exainers do because they are generally better than what they provide themselves. The applicat has to disclose all the prior art they kow of,butusually will use it to mislead you, or if they are really smart they will claim around the existing prior art.
You may not understandthis but software patents aren't granted. the claims usually say: a computer readable medium on which XXXXXX. if you can't patent instructions then you arent going to see any new electronic devices as there must beoperating code for many devices to operate. There are no patents for algorithms or anything naturally occuring.
Patents are owned by individuals, but then they assign them to a corporation or someone else. the inventors section doesn't say: GE or AT&T or anyone else, it says bob roberts or phil johnson.
I'm a patent examiner, i don't speak for the USPTO. If you want more info go look up the mpep on the web thats the manual of patent examining procedure, im sure someone put ac opy of it up.
If you have a BS in comp sci you should be able to understand the basics of engineering (you did take science classes right and didn't just take humanities?). You may have to take some undergrad classes but if you get your ms in engineering in some form you have more flexibility with your job choices.
get a ms in ME or civil or EE or chemE. there are always jobs in those areas besides IT.
when the job market is low, you aren't missing much, might as well get a masters which is more valuable in the long term than some certificaton since your masters NEVER EXPIRES, heck its something you put after your name!
there were in every scene they were wearing a helmet.
it could be because lucas wanted troopers that were more mobile, it seemed in the original movies they had to shuffle about as the armour didnt seem to flexible.
Get an engineering degree, this will allow you to enter nearly any field. if yoy want to continue in the tech field get your ms/phd in engineering, but if you want to make more money and can read and write well or are interested in managing people, get your law degree or mba.
Very few engineers enter these areas, and you can make aton of money. Your engineering degree shows that you can think rationally and logically, skills which apply to other areas than design.
Most engineers aren't engineers their whole lives, at some point they move on to management, as your knowledge isn't as up to date (unless you keep it up to date via classes degrees etc). Getting an advanced degree in something else just opens more doors.
it used to be that many tests had you go out on the road, most now are on closed courses with no traffic. when i gotmy license 7 years ago, the driving portion of the test was less than 3 minutes. (no exageration).
higher fines for careless driving, stricter licensing, more driver training(have a part of driver training be driving through something like an autocross course) would make the roads safer and allow for higher speed limits.
i saw the movie 2x, the second time in a digital theater. all of the cg looked a lot better, it wasn't as dark and there was less artifacting. action sequences looked a lot better. it was wierd to not have flicker.
that being said, the movie suffered from what i call the "tron" effect. all of the live actors seemed to pop out ontop of the computer generated backgrounds or objects (look at people when they sat in chairs or interacted with other CG objects)
It wasn't super annoying, but at that point i think lucas would have been better off just doing CG humans. maybe he will for his next set of movies.
actually, my old jeep had an auto setting for headlights. it just would detect the light level outside and then turn on/off the headlights/interior lights accordingly. this was a 93 model, im surprised its not standard on most cars now!
i would assume it isn't due to the prevelane of daylight runningl lights. other than that there is no reason it shouldnt be standard, such a device is pretty cheap to make.
You have to look to the Gameboy Advance. Desipite being 32 bit, it has 16bit like graphics on par with the SNES. Many simialer games too, there is a gradius game, a new castlevania game(which rocks) Fzero, advance wars, a new metroid and a bunch of RPGs.
The playability of these games are great and probably the only place where you will find most new 2d games.
http://www.the-movie-times.com/thrsdir/TopTen.mv Look at what is said for the price charged per theater aka theater average(I believe for spiderman it was 31k per showing). That doesn't mean that they sold 31k of tickets per theatre, but just that the theater paid the studio 31k for showing the movie. The price rapidly drops after opening weekend. I seriousy doubt that each theater seats 4 thousand people who pay 8 dollars a piece to see the movie.
Therefore it is possible for more people to see a movie which only costs $5000 a showing as oppossed to 31k in this case.
Heck I'm an electrical engineer, do I consider myself an IT worker? HELL NO, it would be nice if the general public (and/.) made the disctinction.
to me IT isn't even programing, its the guys who do server/pc support maintenance, upgrades etc. Skills like that are more of a commodity, being a good programmer/engineer is not. For every design engineer you have several test/systems engineers who test their work(design engineers get paid more in general).
When did IT equate engineering and programing? They are not the same! Repeat again! They are not the same!
Well prehaps they are encoded in stereo, but check most of them when they are displayed onscreen, someone is downconverting them to mono.

i agree
look at the recent tyson fight for evidence, lewis had 6 inches on him(but only 15lbs) and much longer reach.
lewis fought rather defensivly though, anyways it worked, tyson's face was in bad shape.

SSB is a button mashing game, that meaning it can be fun, but like most nintendo party games, does not take much skill.
i dont find it much fun when you are playing by yourself, but more interesting when you play with others.

I feel the same way about the title engineer, you get people with that title who don't do engineering or even engineering work.
it devalues the meaning of the word for those to whom the term originally implies in order to raise the self esteem of those in less technical jobs.
Software evangelist is my favorite, Cisco has a bunch of them.

Well I said its too bad, because the PS2 doesnt do progressive scan which looks quite nice on an HDTV.
The PS2 definatly has for now, better games.
