yup, theres lots of funny correspondences between well known acronyms and IATA airport codes, but theres not enough space in slashdot sigs for all the ones i like
Barring the advent of far more massive media, who, besides universities and governments would really need a 10 gigabit internet connection anyways?
I predict that by 2010 there will be 10Gbit conections to the internet available... but they will be so large and expensive that only the ten richest kings in europe will have one...
Well the review states the inner components are high quality and it can provide solid 500watts through-output, unlike cheap junky psus that can only reach their advertised power in peaks.
So, if your only problem then is with the aesthetics, sanding off the shiny finish can solve the problem.
I would buy this PSU, if only for the modular cabling
No need. Give the employees actual voting stock, instead of "stock options". It's easier to balance the books, the investors can measure the value of the company in real dollars, etc.
Well, I don't know how many companies have done it, but United Airlines did and it was disaster.
I know, I worked there as a non-union employee and I quit in 2002, seeing how the union workers were slowly but surely destroying the company.
Not true! Chipotle chiles are actually serrano or jalapeño chiles that are cured and spiced, then smoked til dry.
They are sold dried at mexican markets, after which they can be made into salsa, or just eaten whole after they have been dipped into a bit of vinegar to re-soften them and spread the spicy goodness.
...And he supports NAFTA, which most people would agree benefits Mexico at least slightly more than the U.S.
Absolutely not! NAFTA benefits the US far more than it benefits Mexico. The US has been blocking a lot of mexican products and services from entering the country because of protectionist lobbying.
Just one example: USian truck drivers can enter Mexico without any trouble since day one of NAFTA, Mexican truck drivers are being blocked from entering the US because of lobbying from the teamsters union. Therefore, both US and Mexican producers trying to sell products to either side have to hire USian transports...
Of course nobody has recourse on the WTO against the US, since the WTO is US-based and has never decided against the US in a trade dispute... Combined with the fact that mexican politicians would never do anything to upset Uncle Sam...
Arafat and Sharon are both murderers who should be facing tribunals.
Very true, one man's patriot is another's terrorist.
However, the solution to the israeli/palestinian problem could be a simple one, if only enough people in both groups would be reasonable.
First Step: Depopulate Jerusalem! Since Jerusalem is a holy city for both groups (not to mention the christian communities there), there's no way any of them would stand it being in the sole possesion of the other. So Jerusalem should be a UN controlled DMZ where religious visits from any of the groups would be welcomed, although the visitors would have to be escorted by blue helmets, at least for a few years.
Very true, you can grow your own tomatoes, or build your own custom made x86 computer from parts... other people buy tomatoes at the supermarket, or buy compaqs or dells
That would truly suck. To be sitting there watching "When Meteorites Attack, True Stories of Meteorites and Their Victims" and WHAM, there's a smoking hole in your television set, sparks flying everywhere, and the father figure of the family is screaming for his teenage son, wondering if he had been busy building nuclear reactors again.
And then a cheerleader is abducted, and Nurse Edna chases their rescuers and scares them silly...
After all, Linus wrote the Linux to improve Minix on Minix.
No. Linux and Minix have different missions. Minix was a teaching tool, it's mission was not to become a full featured Unix workalike. Its goal was to remain small and comprehensible to further its teaching mission. Linux had a very different mission. It is silly to compare the two. Linux is no more of an improvement on Minix than a wrench is an improvement on a screwdriver. Different tools for different jobs, or missions in this case.
I think what the original poster meant was that Linus was running Minix when he was coding Linux, and he first announced Linux on the Minix newsgroups, inviting Minix users to try it out and comment on it.
How many had seen this coming for a while?
Dont worry, theres an excess of mod points...
At least I get mod points 2-3 times a week

+1: obscure sci-fi reference

The site is slashdotted, so can someone tell me how is this different from the infamous Nintendo glove (it looked cool, but thats all it did)
Anakin "dies" in Ep. III during the battle with Obi and that Vader is just a zombie.
So when Vader is alone in his hyperbaric chamber he actually feasts upon the flesh of the living???
Nah, most parts of the civilized world you can legally drink beer at 18.
Some even more civilized places have a legal beer drinking age of 16

No realmente, verás: el español será la lengua oficial de los Estados Unidos a partir del 2018...
No me crees? qué quieres apostar?
Nope, girl.com is right now just a domain parker
Here in Mexico City, I get good prints from $2 USD developing and $0.15 each print.
Cheap looking pictures I can get at the subway station for about $1.5 USD plus $0.10 each print.
Of course, in the third world, you win some, you lose some... I can't find a decent digital camera for less than $200.00 usd, go figure.
Mhmmm, strange... Around here, a 36 exp. costs around 2 USD to develop, plus .12 USD for prints, while digital prints are about 1.5 USD...
Seems that kodak/fuji/etc minilabs are being exported cheaply here to the third world...
Yeah, but printing digital pictures is about 10 times as expensive as getting regular prints...

Gee, your spelling makes me think you posted this using Graphiti...
Could you kindly explain for the non-math geeks?
Sorry, my geekiness comes from other areas...
But how about the patent for to-do lists...?
to repeat it...
And if you DO learn from it, you are doomed to see it repeating itself
