As our perceptions are limited, in some ways, our knowledge is always biased (because of experience, choices, agendas, etc.) Everything is matter of opinion.
I think the only thing that escapes this condition it's mathematics, as it is a pure mind creation. Others may not agree:)
So why can't Wikipedia be a multi-view encyclopedia? This encyclopedia should be as diverse as the internet is.
Sure it's going to be source of debate and some bad memes are going to infiltrate (racism, religious intolerance), but surely can be balanced with proper commentary, and some sort of poll where people can tell what opinion was more useful/accepted (this even may change in time).
Can we be so arrogant to think there's only one way to interpret every thing in life?
1.- A Bleeding-edge edited-by-all wikipedia (as we know it today)
2.- A brand new static fact-checked true-as-possible wikipedia, emerged from the first one, with an interface that, optionally, shows and highlights the differences from the first one (as a source of unverified updates).
Surely, the second is going to cost money (a lot)... but it would be the best of both worlds... and it could be a source you can reference as bibliography.
When I first read Lasermonks, I imagined monks shooting laser beams from their index fingers to kill sinners. Sort of an Inquisition from a post-apocalyptic 25th century.
As the Slashdot community appears to be a music interested crowd, Why not to have a [indie|bizarre|non-pop|whatever] music section, with some music reviews, article, comments, etc. on it. It would be an interesting chance for both bands and always-looking-for-good-music nerds.
Or maybe somebody could start a music-related site with slashcode on it. I haven't seen anything like that.
"Benign" and "Pinochet", in the same sentence? WTF. Kill thousand but no millions and you'll be a respectable man?
That f*cker and his cohort no just killed and torture men, women and children, but killed the spirit of many, with a terror age that lasted years, dividing the country between supporters of his rule (by force or convenience) and the rest.
Also, he f*ck-up the whole country with help of right-wing economicists that sold every important national industry (energy and mineral production) for a penny (and they were bought by themselves, the rich people here). They pulled off government funds that supported retirement funds, health care system, educational system. All for a more liberal economical system who f*cks everybody in the middle-lower class.
It's not nice when you know there are people receiving US$1 dollar or less monthly after a whole working life. Or people who dies because they can't pay a cancer treatment.
The quality of life sucks here. And it appears there's no way to solve it, because of a lot of laws that tie-up the actual government (center-left alliance) and the economical powers/right wing party that shares half of congress chairs and never approve anything that makes them get less money.
I've tried to find a review about this gizmo, but I haven't found any.
How is it? Any bug to mention? (double layer problems?)
what about sound quality? which monitor resulution are supported?
did you buy it directly from Hong Kong? was a reliable shopping process?
I think is a cool device because of the better quality of VGA displays (compared to TV sets).
I've been said that sleeping under such kind of noise (similar to white noise) makes you deaf slowly, because of the permanent ear stimulation in a wide range of frecuencies. Has anyone any information about this?

I devoured it in 2 days. Really cool!!!
This is valid if you've already read the whole Ender Saga and the previous "Ender's shadow" novel.
OSC is pure fun

:)
2.- All Farscape DVDs (at Amazon NTSC or Blackstar UK PAL) (US$ 20 each)
3.- A 500GB Ultra2 SCSI array of solid-state drives with the proper Ultra2 controller
(no idea about the cost, probably US$500.000)
4.- An ever available sex partner (whatever your preference no matter how kinky >:]) (priceless)
