I think the problem we should really be worried about is not that the person is talking on a phone during a thunderstorm. But rather that they are walking away from protective structures in an effort to get a better signal during the storm. Instant lightning rod once they walk away from the building, on the phone or not.
I know others with similar stories, and I can definitely see how someone who'd like to fly military jets would perceive the risk/reward tradeoff as a good deal. Heck, I'd get the surgery if it meant someone would let me fly an F-14.

I read a conversation with one of the creators of the game, this person said that the game has pretty much now been considered to be called RFO by pretty much everyone involved, including all the players, and that they had planned to ship the box cover with the big letters RFO on it, and only make mention of Rising Force Online in the subtext.
I almost fell over laughing at this. The blogging community, EVEN the politically based blogging community, is no more politically sophisticated than my 10th grade english class was.
Maybe he's Catholic/Jewish/Muslim/Zorastanic and thinks that AIDS is God's punishment for the wicked, and that if he helps to circumvent this for anyone he is going against God's will and WILL be damned for certain. Just a thought.
hmmm...i thought he rested on the 7th day and it was good so he just sorta stopped creating...from that point all i remember is him being vengeful (read: destructive) and then forgiving (also read: passive).
