Good luck Kevin, I don't think you will need it though! :)

...Star Trek movies have been progressively getting worse and worse as they come out. Personally... I like them all. They are great 'entertainment'. However.. the bulk of their fan base are fanatics. They search for incontinuity of plot, question the real life physics of it all and much much more. That is what seperates the Fans from the Creators. It seems as though the Creators look at is entertainment designed to attract viewers. Fine by me.. not so good if Star Trek is your life or at least a slight passion. This.. is why it didn't do well. I have no doubt it will at least pay for itself once it hits video stores but thats also a product of cost. Nobody wants to pay $10 for admission and another $10 for popcorn and a pop to see a sci fi movie series that is getting constantly bad reviews by people who live for Star Trek. Hollywood is going to need to realize this if they expect to survive in theatres in the future.

So you don't have to do anything to keep using your MP3s, but if you want to use Vorbis in protest, it's going to be very difficult."

Actually, WinAMP supports vorbis now. Other decoders usually allow for at least a plugin, so vorbis in theory shouldn't be hard to get running on most decoders.

    3. Cable providers charge us for the service.

I think a model like this would only work for satellite providers, not land based cable. The costs to lay/maintain coax is probably significantly more then it would be to plunk a bird in the sky.

Number one problem with this? Money. People will only pay so much for cable. Therefore the cable companies will only pay so much for content, and the stations will only pay so much for shows. Therefor the whole industry needs to live with a smaller profit margin. And this leaves us pretty much back where we are since we live on a very capitolistic continent.

In this day and age of obesity and general unfitness of north america's children I think we need to spend more time getting our kids out to the park or into a sports league of some sort to keep them healthy. Our kids are getting fat spending their time staring blankly at the computer screens all day.. I know.. I'm one of those kids! I spent hours as a kid watching TV, playing video games and futzing on the computer. It was great.. I came home at 3:30.. watched after school cartoons until mom made dinner at 5:30. Went back to it after... maybe did a little homework then hopped on the computer for the rest of the night... EVERY DAY. I'm not saying my parents where bad parents, far from it, but had they spent more time forcing me into trying better things for me I think I would lead less of a seditary lifestyle today. Something that I am deasperately trying to get away from these days.

One might argue that if Loki had of put a little more risk into the business from the start and actually got in with games being built at the time, they wouldn't have had half the problems they are in. Ya ya.. capitol = success.. it was the dot com revolution.. the money was there.

For example, Loki hears that Blizzard is in the middle of working on World of Warcraft. They approach Blizzard and say 'hey, we will port the game to linux if you let us develop along side of you. You give us ??% of the sales on the linux port and we will call it even." I'd even go as far as saying a very small percentage of the windows version as well as I'm sure Loki would have been able to help on that as well in small ways.

Their business model was flawed. No word about it. I own one game of theirs (Kohan) and loved it. Very unfortunate :(
