Connectivity includes a USB port, bluetooth, and card slots for the most common phone memory cards and perhaps some of the more common cards from digital cameras (microSD, SD, etc.). It's not necessary to support all of the types of memory cards b/c it's targeted at a specific audience. No need for drivers, printer detects the phone/card as a mass storage device. With a small screen on the top (use that new flexible screen type stuff) for selecting what to print. The print media and ink come as a package with the media in cartridges and enough ink to print that many photos, say 25 at a time or so.

You can check out Wikipedia for a quick review of some of the mechanisms.

You probably won't see a chloride reaction unless you work at the beach and the building is exposed to salt in high concentrations. But if you are in the midwestern US there is a very good possibility that you are likely experiencing an Alkali-Silica reaction essentially to put it in simple terms your building is turning to jelly from the inside out. Concrete from the 70's is particularly prone to that problem because of the level of knowledge about it and the lack of a treatment for it at the time combined with the materials that were common in that era. The symptoms can look similar to the freeze thaw cycle cracking seen in northern climates.

Concrete has come a long way since the pozzolanic mixtures the Romans used and it is significantly different than concrete from even as much as 35-40 years ago.

I do think that it is interesting that you bring up a politically correct bias. This would seem to me to be a bias that has been instituted to prevent failures of the system by both the evil commie liberals and the evil fascist conservatives. If they cannot decide which way to present something that is inherently difficult to present completely out of the context of the times it gets white washed and becomes "politically correct" so as not to offend anybody.

IMHO what the Texas school board is doing is a disservice to all of the students throughout the country that will be subjected to the bias that these texts instill (either directly though use or indirectly through interactions with those that have). They are removing the "PC bias" (I agree, that may not be a bad thing in some cases) but rather than trying to better explain context of the times and what actually happened from the view of both sides (even in brief) they are choosing to favor the conservative opinions and philosophies. They are not empowering the children to develop an unbiased educated understanding of the subject. Instead they are spoon feeding them a set of "facts" that only lead to one conclusion and one limited understanding.

The lack of a serious look at the secular nature of the founding of the country and the fight to keep it secular as a way of empowering the freedom of religion makes these books a joke.

The meters make no difference in the time people spend in the spots, they just add to the price of shopping in those areas.

So what you are advocating (albeit as unappealing) is genocide in China and the mass murder of billions of poor folks who aren't consuming nearly as much energy as the typical American just so they can pay lower prices for energy and not have to give up their SUV and plastic bottle of water?

ignore for a moment the fact that water vapor is a greenhouse gas responsible for up to 76% of the greenhouse effect

Let's also ignore the magical energy source required to pump all this water into the air.

No problem ignoring the greenhouse effects of this. I'd imagine that the effects of water vapor while accounting for a greater percentage currently (due mainly to the vast area covered with water) would be short lived. The vapor condenses and falls to the ground eventually, not so with some of the other greenhouse gasses. When was the last time you saw liquid CO2 or CH4 fall from the sky?

As far as a mythical energy source, it really isn't all that hard in fact there are several methods for culling energy from the waves as they pass by.

One of the methods is to use an articulating "snake" structure that bends as it goes over the waves and generates power (see current uses in the North Sea).

Another is to use the action of the waves to bob the structure up and down, this can cause a pumping action to occur and transport water from below to the surface (you could ostensibly build a low flow turbine that would work off that).

Third option involves the use of any available currents in the area to cause an oscillating motion through induced vortexes (this phenomenon is a problem for oil rigs and is usually damped, but you can use a generator for the damping and get some power from it).

Finally there is my personal favorite from another post, unicorns on treadmills that poop rainbows and pixie dust.

For examples one can look at the problems being experienced in New Orleans, The Grand Canyon, The Netherlands, and China to name a few. People build dams to provide water to the population for agriculture and consumption and as flood control but the sediments get trapped too. No sediments in the water down stream (or in some cases extremely reduced flow volumes) leads to erosion of the land in with no possible means of repair and a depletion of nutrients for agricultural land.
