Hell, I used to do that with Infocom games back in the DOS days, because every command would hit the floppy to return the appropriate response.
Solution: RAM disk the same size as the floppy (320K), copy the whole disk to RAM to play, save games to the B: floppy. Game actions were stupidly fast for the most part.
When I grew up in Western Canada, we had like an hour to eat lunch at school. So we took our time and then ran around outside for 20-30 minutes.
A year I moved to the Eastern US and we had 20 minutes to eat lunch, and then we had to go immediately back to class, with no chance of leaving the school.
Either way I had a packed lunch from home, but I hated having to wolf it all down with no time to relax.
Keep tempting snacks in a time lock box, that only opens at set times, to avoid impulsive eating.
Or just don't buy them. I stopped eating a lot of crap like chips, etc. just by not buying them in the first place. If I want something crunch, nuts, carrots, or celery will do just fine.
Yeah, everybody should go get a Masters degree and go be a programmer, surely these kinds of jobs will NEVER see wage depression as the market is filled with workers of the same skill set!
Google's war on blogs continues, this time on their own properties. What they want is clear: move adult content onto some other host, and pay them to drive traffic to it since it won't show up in organic search anymore.
Copyright terms should be max(author, spouse). When you're dead, it's time to pay society back for what you have built on top of a civilization that was here long before you were born.
There are two reasons I would like to see "Blackhat": The cinematography and Tang Wei. I'm curious to see how Tang Wei is in an American movie after she was blacklisted in China. She seems likes a capable actor so I would like to see her get new opportunities.
For the cinematography, it was decent for the most part. There's still something weird in both Blackhat and Public Enemies where there are a couple of hand-held shots that look like they were shot on cheap camcorders, and it's such a terrible contrast to how the rest of the movie looks. Also there are a few foot chase scenes that are hand-held and the picture just shakes too damn much.
Tang Wei does a decent job in a pretty thankless role, IMO.
Slashdot's dead???? Has Netcraft confirmed it?
Is Netcraft still around?!
Maybe add a simple quiz that tests for knowledge of the Constitution... (snip)
Can you make this mandatory for the people running for office first?
I expect that is may be mostly do the fact most apps made today still are created with the idea of 32bit in mind. (For Windows and Linux).
Stopped reading right there :P

It's mostly bullshit pseudo-science and fuzzy-headed intellectualism.
Essentially "Nerd church" for the Gladwell crowd. The strict format and time limits per slide do not encourage actual learning.
TEDx is even worse.
I have an old Intel Mac with a Broadcom HD decoder chip in place of the WiFi card, running XBMC with Crystal HD. Works like a charm.
Which came first, Big Egg or Big Chicken?
Calling Apple a hardware company is incredibly short sighted.
Apple's always been a software company. They just happen to require hardware dongles, which they also sell :P
A certain percentage of the population has an innate need to believe what cannot be proven. I think this is a feature of humanity, not a bug.
Agreed. I mean, next thing you know, there's all these Popes running around.

He then got forty cavities.
How many large power plants built since the 60's have been on-budget? 1st world only need apply, please.

The most secure web server is the one that's not even installed.
Then it's not a web server, is it?
Nope.
Regular old new lines work just fine.
Dunno what happened to your post.
Bitcoin: backed by math, er, I mean scammers!
UK domains tend to be [name].co.uk, and there's a tidy business for the people running *.uk.co

Disagree. Author's life only.
Agreed. Life of the author should be the *maximum* time span permitted.
This is engine noise being piped through the sound system, it's not going to help a blind person on the street at all.
You mean :10bux:
