They probably wanted your SSN or EIN for the purpose of a 1099, putting you as an employee would cost them MORE in taxes, fool. They can write off repairs to computers in the course of business, and once you get some x amount from them, they are *required* to issue you a 1099. If you get a 1099, don't forget to include it on your tax return. :-D

Pretty pictures and detailed Imp blood splatter go only so far, especially at an occasionally jittery 800x600. HL2 *FEELS* much better than Doom 3 in both engine performance and actual gameplay.

What the hell are you trying to troll? Steam sucks, no doubt, but complaining about embedding IE instead of BT? Did you mean mozilla framework? or are you foolishly only talking about in-game downloads? (a good webhost clan server should sufficiently outrun BT for straight 1-10MB file xfer, you don't need much other than basic file tran functionality for level/fx/snd DLs, albeit embedding BT would be nice for large file/game/mod DLs)

KISS, Keep It Simple, Stupid, and the sons of bitches force you to use the glitz and glamour to even access the command line these days, but all of the advanced MS tools (until win2k3 for some newer tools as it turns out) are all very command line oriented. Ever had to attempt to restore a partially corrupted Exchange mbox and reconnect it with Active Dir on a vanilla 2k box [client's latest backup was over a year prior]? If you read up on the history of GNU and Richard Stallman, he realized that software must be geared towards the ideas and ideals of real freedom in order to cultivate technology and prevent companies (eg MS) from polluting and distracting the advancement of our technology. It was ok to copy music from the radio to tape, how is this so different? (I don't buy that 'the quality is too high' argument one bit, but will discuss it more if you wish).

Frankly, I don't care who 'wins' a debate between Windows vs Linux, I use Windows, I use Linux, I don't need political meanderings to tell me what to use for what I need. (That said, from what I've experienced with linux, you can do just about any damn thing you can think of with, for example, the Debian distribution using all free software, it just takes persistance and reading comprehension with average technical competence... with windows, you end up dropping $599 for some half baked tool whos biggest advantage is a GUI that feels more polished.)

I was losing tech IQ points as soon as Win95 hit the scene and I left my precious DOS. Linux and BSD boxes at an ISP I worked at a few years later saved me.
