    Except they do have competition, come on this is slashdot, you can't just conviently ignore apple and the 50 or so popular linux distros.

    Either mac osx and linux are viable desktop os's or they aren't but you can't pretend they are half the time and then pretend ms has no competition the rest of the time.

    Isn't ESRB rating optional anyway much like the mpaa rating is optional?

    Will stores no longer be able to carry games that aren't ESRB rated? It would seem that publishers could just choose not to have certain games rated.. I doubt Gamestop really cares if GTA is rated or not.

    That's incredibly faulty logic. The US gov't makes and builds and buys billions of dollars worth of stuff every day. That doesn't mean you're entitled to it.

    But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't be.

    You might try a host solution like microsoft live meeting or lotus sametime or webex, basically anything that is hosted on a website instead of using direct p2p connection.

    Also assuming the other person isn't behind a firewall you could call out to them using netmeeting.

    If he signed a Non Competition agreement, he's screwed, period. I'm sure Microsoft's are iron clad.

    Very few non-compete agreements are iron clad, the only teeth they have is the fear of being sued. Google is not afraid of going to bat for their new employee, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

    For those who dont know: MS crippled Borland by offering their *TOP* 40 engineers *DOUBLE* their salaries to work at MS. Borland products which were once the industry standard began a rapid descent, and have been garbage ever since, with MS's Visual suite taking their place.

    Is there some kind of law against this or do people just like to keep bringing it up like there is something wrong with it.

    Realistically, windows running on cheap hardware is exactly the way to do this. Just because you don't know how to do thing without applescript, doesn't mean it's not possible.

    It sounds like all he is doing is importing a bunch of photos into photoshop and exporting them out of ftp. Photoshop can do most of this with batch processing already and anything you can't do with photoshop natively you can use windows scripting to do.

    Pretending that using a Mac is the only way of doing something is just ignorant.

    but when it comes time to buy a mount, you have 2 options: beg or farm.

    Or you can not be stupid about spending your money. When I hit 40 I had over 100g and was able to buy my mount and training and all the available spells and still had a little left over.

    EVE Online has a one-hour daily downtime at 11:00 AM GMT - 12:00 PM GMT (which was 3:00 - 4:00 here in Pacific Time).

    That's very interesting, but it has nothing to do with WoW, which only has scheduled down time once a week.

    What is wrong with ff is that it is setup in such a way that extensions can have it hang. People should be 'screaming at the devs' about this.
