    How about the Sex Pistols or the Clash, both from London?

    Both came after The Ramones, New York Dolls, Iggy and the Stooges, and others. Punk became popular in the UK, but really got its start in the US.

    I agree. Mitsui Gold and Kodak Gold Ultima (if you can find them) are the best.

    Mitsui claims 100 year media life, but even 20 will be enough to last until something better comes along (holograpic storage or something equally far out).

    When you can compile the kernel or compress a movie in 2 mins, who will really care that it can be done in 1?

    I will care. No system is ever "fast enough" until whatever I want to do is done instantaneously. I want kernel compiles in 1 second, not 1 minute. I want to compress a movie in the same time it takes my system to execute the date(1) command. Until it can do that, system speed can be improved.

    I think the fact that it was subtitled Episode Four lends some believability to the claim that there was more than this one segment to the original story.

    Ah, but originally Star Wars was just that, Star Wars. There was no Episode 4 crap until it was re-released.

    America did very little to help Europe in WW2, until it was far too late to do any good.

    Lend/lease, anyone? Your UK probably would have fallen without our help, buddy. The US sent a few supplies to the Soviets, too, when they were running short. And then helped out a little with that whole D-Day thing....

    Afterall, the scientific community was once convinced that the universe was composed of four elements: fire, water, air, and earth.

    The ancient-to-medieval folks who believed this were not real scientists in the sense that we think of when we think of scientists today (more often than not they were priests or at least educated in a seminary or the equivalent. Ha!). The development of the modern scientific method is what gradually led us away from the fire/air/water/earth belief.
