I agree. Mitsui Gold and Kodak Gold Ultima (if you can find them) are the best.
Mitsui claims 100 year media life, but even 20 will be enough to last until something better comes along (holograpic storage or something equally far out).
When you can compile the kernel or compress a movie in 2 mins, who will really care that it can be done in 1?
I will care. No system is ever "fast enough" until whatever I want to do is done instantaneously. I want kernel compiles in 1 second, not 1 minute. I want to compress a movie in the same time it takes my system to execute the date(1) command. Until it can do that, system speed can be improved.
I think the fact that it was subtitled Episode Four lends some believability to the claim that there was more than this one segment to the original story.
Ah, but originally Star Wars was just that, Star Wars. There was no Episode 4 crap until it was re-released.
America did very little to help Europe in WW2, until it was far too late to do any good.
Lend/lease, anyone? Your UK probably would have fallen without our help, buddy. The US sent a few supplies to the Soviets, too, when they were running short. And then helped out a little with that whole D-Day thing....

No, LBJ said that when he decided not to run in 1968.
Afterall, the scientific community was once convinced that the universe was composed of four elements: fire, water, air, and earth.
The ancient-to-medieval folks who believed this were not real scientists in the sense that we think of when we think of scientists today (more often than not they were priests or at least educated in a seminary or the equivalent. Ha!). The development of the modern scientific method is what gradually led us away from the fire/air/water/earth belief.
Since there is exactly as much evidence for the existence of Santa Clause as there is for the existence of God, and since neither belief withstands the scrutiny of science and occams razer unless faith is invoked, how do you choose which belief is the sillier?
Man, you are so right on. I wish I had some mod points!
In or out of church, please don't even joke about that.
I smell a fundamentalist.
Why shouldn't the above poster be able to joke about whatever the hell he wants to? Must everyone conform to your "respectful" attitudes or beliefs? Is your faith in Jesus so weak it can't stand the slightest reminder that not everyone feels the way you do?

More like "humans evolved", rather than were designed to, eat omnivorously.
Applecare will also give you *on-site* support. This was very nice whan my logic board needed replacing last year.
How about the Sex Pistols or the Clash, both from London?
Both came after The Ramones, New York Dolls, Iggy and the Stooges, and others. Punk became popular in the UK, but really got its start in the US.
at your becon call
I think you mean "at your beck and call".
You get what you pay for.

Aren't real-estate prices in the US dropping ?
This the first time I've heard this. Man, I wish you were right. Do you have any links to back this up?

It was eliminated due to thus negative stigma attached to it.
It was not eliminated .

d00d, you need to check out www.cheap-cds.com.
how do you put angle-brackets in your post without Slashdot trying to interpret them as HTML?
The same way you get them to show up in html documents w/o your <browser> interpreting them.
Check it out.
I see your schwartz is as big as mine!!
'Schwartz' just means 'black'. I think you mean 'Schvantz'!

Get Big Brother. The free version rocks.

Read the libretto of a typical opera sometime. Silly lyrics are not a recent invention.
Namibia is the size of the western United States
Eh, just how much of the Western US are you including there?
CA, OR, and WA combined = 332,070 sq. miles
Namibia = 318,000 sq. miles
