I will care. No system is ever "fast enough" until whatever I want to do is done instantaneously. I want kernel compiles in 1 second, not 1 minute. I want to compress a movie in the same time it takes my system to execute the date(1) command. Until it can do that, system speed can be improved.

Ha!). The development of the modern scientific method is what gradually led us away from the fire/air/water/earth belief.
Since there is exactly as much evidence for the existence of Santa Clause as there is for the existence of God, and since neither belief withstands the scrutiny of science and occams razer unless faith is invoked, how do you choose which belief is the sillier?
