This is the biggest scientific discovery to come out of Australia since Yahoo Serious discovered how to give beer a nice head and invented rock n' roll!
I run into this dilemna constantly. I've found that HTTP is more reliable for downloads for intranet applications. When I build something in VB I try to use FTP, because I have better control of what's going on. For file uploads, of course, FTP is definitely the way to go. As for speed, I think FTP is technically faster, but HTTP throught the browser has the added bonus of showing you how much time is left on the download, making it SEEM to go faster. Basically, if the file is something that doesn't need to be secure, I'd use HTTP if speed isn't an issue (ie: intranet only or broadband connections mostly), otherwise, I'd go with FTP.
if a chicken and half lays an egg and a half every day and a half, then how long does it take a monkey with a wooden leg to kick all of the seeds out of a dill pickle?
But what about the alien threat that was presented in the Hollywood blockbusted Independence Day? Since alien's run MacOS-compatible systems and communicate using a protocol extactly similiar to our TCP/IP, this system, if put into place, would give them the last piece of the puzzle needed to blow up the White House! I urge Echostar to think of the children for Christ's sake!
I'm being forced to develop a LARGE scale app using Fusebox. I've been programming CF for a little over five years now and developed my own standard I called "pseudobox" because it implemented the GOOD qualities of fusebox and left room to be creative. I hate the fact everything has to fall under dsp, act, qry, etc. In the app I'm building right now, that's not enough. And I don't like the fact that I have to post the form action a fuseAction to the index.cfm file...why can't a form just post to itself? I've worked at a lot of different types of software houses in the past that consisted of mainly knowledgeable web developers and we all agreed that fusebox is most definitely not the way to go...too bad the morons in management at my new place don't share the same opinion.
But Dr. Evil, that kind of money doesn't exist in 2003!!!
I wonder where the goverment got their "Intel" from.
No seriously folks, I'm here all week
Think about it...the dictionary spammers have not gotten as far as sramasubramanian@hotmail.com
The author leaves some very important questions unanswered...
How many megapixels is the Gameboy SP?
What games are available for the Powershot G3?
I'll need the answers to those questions to make an informed decision.
Well, at least I can still get Deer Hunter at Best Buy
Fantastic! Now even when Weather.com is down I can still see what the weather is like without having to expose by pasty white skin to the elements.

Except for the age part, that sounds a lot like my ex-girlfriend.
Happy Valentines Day everybody!
Why don't Brits write their own OS?
Because they haven't figured out how to make them leak oil!
cool, wanna go out sometime?
Now THAT's some serious nerding...too bad a feat like this does nothing to impress the ladies
I can't wait until I can digitally UNLEASH THE FOCKIN' FURY!!!
Man, I almost went blind reading that.
On the other hand,
if a chicken and half lays an egg and a half every day and a half, then how long does it take a monkey with a wooden leg to kick all of the seeds out of a dill pickle?
Seems like...
1. Sign shitty artists
2. Sell shitt CD's
3. Piss on consumers rights
4. ??? (anything but restructuring)
5. Lose profit
Wait...that doesn't work
(and now for the obligatory /. business plan)
1. Send Resume
2. Wait Patiently
3. Get job
4. Profit???

This will come in handy when it comes time to deal with those pesky tie fighters

That is one of the funniest comparisons I've ever heard. Kudos!
I knew he was really from K-Pax
This is crazy...someone should sue him for wasting taxpayer money in court.
Getting moderated on Slashdot is harder than solving the turing puzzle.
You would actually have to put it in the mylar bag, not just the glove comparment.
I'll keep that in mind next time I drive from Marin to SF to kill someone.
But a $5 bridge toll would leave less money for bullets.
