Don't make me laugh! I've seen Charter up here in Northwestern Wisconsin... total crap! They are down a LOT, and mostly because of some pipe problems in the Eau Claire area! Hell, on top of that, the bandwith isn't the greatest compared to our DSL here through the local co-op... no, we refuse to use the DSL coming from CenturyTel and Veri-sux.
With the Nvidia driver the kernel doesn't barf; X does. Something with Nvidia's programming that we could *fix* if we had the source... (hint, hint, Nvidia) otherwise a linux box with that kind of a hang can be restored only if you can telnet/SSH into it to kill the X server. It isn't really a kernel freeze as it is an issue with the X server's driver that Nvidia has made.
Well that's intresting... I wasn't aware of some of the theorms behind the actual experement. It just doesn't -seem- correct, does it? As for other fields, yeah, I am aware of some research is done with various medical advancements... although some things are simmilar, they aren't exact, and I'm sure there are other aspects that need to be considered as well... oh well before I post maybe I need to search google?;-)
And this is where all the grant money goes into? wtf? Maybe the University of Illinois needs to reevaluate their grants so the state of Illinois doesn't end up throwing money away for such idiotic research... sheesh
What next? A block grant to figure out how to control snakes in Afghanistan?:-P
I was going to sue your ass, but I got high.
I was gonna with a little bit of class, but then I got high. They got my whole damn tax base, and I know why: because I got high, because I got high, because I got high!
(And I'm stoned as a motherfucker!)
Guess the DOJ needs to stop having socials with the DEA...
It'll be just fine until she presses TBRS on the case while you are fighting a boss and you're forced into doing a fsck... and not of her, but of your drives, and you'll be lucky if later on you'll have the chance to in bed:-P
AMEN! I am SO glad someone in the/. crowd said this.
I personally feel Transgaming is a Good Thing(TM); screw Loki for now until we have a -competitive- marketshare (I'd say at least 15%-20%) before native ports happen... we have the libs, yeah; we have the hardware; yeah... I hate to make this a "me too" post but everyone needs to get this point hammered down. Give the customer their PROGRAMS, and they will choose to come to Linux. Why??? Well, let's be the average Joe. Their programs don't have a need for 100 FPS (Why would they? They got a "deal" at Best Buy on an HP for $699!). Their OS is Windoze; it's not that they hate it, it's because they can't run their games (no matter how much you and I think they suck:-P) or Office (and fuck getting them to run StarOffice/OpenOffice/KOffice/Whatever because they're not intrested). Speed isn't an issue so much as it's a reasonable speed. It works the same, and Linux costs less... effectively, we have competition! Competition is also a Good Thing(TM). This would not only extend marketshare, but it would help break down the Evil Empire more. If the gov't is going to let Billy G. and his Borg get away with it, we can't say "Oh the gov't will get us back to normal again." This however, can, and we need to act.
Well some prefer Flash5 -- AFAIK, it's more legal than LSD, though both can cause psychosis...;-)
Anyway, if it works in there, that Average Joe will switch; we can't always have a l33t attitude about things (though I agree; Flash sites generally suck and I feel Macromedia needs to be shot)
It brings a game that is a best seller to the linux platform that the average Joe (and some geeks) actually like to play. It is not a matter of us the/. crowd wanting to install Diablo II and Starcraft on our 31337 boxes; it is a matter of bringing this to the average Joe so that the game works and is worth the $69.99 USD that he paid for it.
I for one am *so* glad to see The Sims pre-bundled; my girlfriend now can stop making the following excuse: "I'm sticking with Windoze because I can't play The Sims on it.";-)
After all, it's a.com world! Even ask your average PHB! ("Yeah, I want my business to end in.com, NOT.biz! Joe C. Luser across the street has joecluser.com! I want a.com NOW!")
Somehow I get the feeling when one of us does strings on the actual binary we may see the apache licence:-P Just that M$ and security go together as Satan and good.
HI! I AM AN AOL USER I THINK THAT THE INTERNET IS A GREAT FEATURE NO I AM NOT SHOUTING AT ALL WHY DO YOU THINK THAT I AM DOING THAT FOR EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET AOL BECAUSE IT IS SO EASY
And we're better than this -- we don't have to use punchcards anymore:-)
If there is not going to be abuse of this...

The FCC needs to put that into writing -- seriously... companies are like little kids with toys -- unless you tell them to not do something, they'll go ahead and do it; the companies won't care so long as they get their positive reinforcement of profits. It is important to realize this and to push the FCC to make sure that there is no abuse of this system or to stop any more abuse -- they are the ones that must establish controls for this area of the industry.
Something that NASA with all its budget cuts will need to do in order to get some satalities for studies... now if there can be also a way to cut down on costs for transport that'd be great also!
Maybe there will be a Pluto-Kupier Express project -- I sure hope so; I'd like to see Pluto's CH4 frost... otherwise think of all the little things we can do with these buggers!
Imagine if you will trying to be the marketers of such a device! This odd-looking device that is suppose to be a good source of ergonomics and make more use of the thumbs. Even so, I know of a few reasons why it won't take off:
1) People are reluctant to change. Most people have already adapted to the QWERTY-style of keyboard because it's the most common, and I'm sure those who like and can find a DVORAK keyboard use them as well.
2) Gamers won't be pleased to have something that would restrict the use of other devices... those that don't use a joystick are likely to be using the keyboard, the mouse, or the combonation of the two, as in Quake (duh. btw, if you find someone that uses a joystick with Quake, hit them with a newspaper and rub their noses into the joystick and go "Noooooo..." See if they stop:-)
3) Training costs of having to teach *each* person that you stick this keyboard with -- of course if a computer is *down* and this keyboard is the only one available, you can't expect them to know how to switch keyboards; so it makes sence to the PHBs out there that you should train them all... that takes time and money.

More like some speed... else crack... as you will need it to be able to keep awake!

So on that analogy they're screwing themselves? Damn! They must like their right hands! ;-)
Let me correct "the excuse" for you all; it brings some confusion.
"I'm sticking with Windoze because I can't run The Sims on Linux."
It brings a game that is a best seller to the linux platform that the average Joe (and some geeks) actually like to play.
