I've set up ATA/100 RAID controllers with the drivers available on Promise's site and lately in the kernel config I've see the Promise set of drivers available, so maybe they gave the source back to the community.
And the nay-sayers, etc, etc about weither or not Linux is going to make it. It certain does give statistics and quantive measurements to make a good analysis of what is going to happen with Linux and it looks positive. I'm glad to see that there's something that PHBs out there are going to read and go "Hey; they're for real! I gotta get a Linux stradegy."

AOL email services not suitable for a corperation! Who'd of thunk it, really?
"Hi, I'm Joe C. Marketer for AOL-TW, and my email address is joecmarketer41284161826312698162@aol.com I was going to send you my presentation at first by an email attachment, but I can't because it's too big. Then I was going to burn it to a CD, but all the CDs are out so we can bury everyone with free trial CDs. So I had to run all the way to the cab, fetch the cab, and get you this presenation by hand! Man, I tell you -- this old-fashioned way sucks, but I lost 3 ounces getting here!"
I remember back in the olden days when we had one rubber band for the ammo and the trigger was top-mounted on the gun as a clothespin! Damn kids; they've never have had it rough...
If they are running an X server and you're the configurer... what you could do is set up a way to make an sshd run on their machine (not like they'll notice) by a simple click of an icon (and requiring the root passwd) to start the sshd and you logon through SSH (remember there is an option that allows the forwarding of X sessions.) to do remote maitenence. I really wish I had this option being here at college and my family using 9x. It really sucks because I can't just "fix it" and be done with it in a few minutes over having to listen to them whine that "It doesn't work!" and "I dunno what you're talking about; how about I come get you?"
I really liked how the Senate responded to the proposal; they make some great points on what, why, and how this proposal is total BS. If I'm around for the next time these guys are up for re-election; yeah, they're getting my vote.
Though this one...
(8) What will the settlement's effect be on Microsoft's future conduct? Microsoft is has dubbed its aggressive Internet strategy.NET or "Hailstorm" - a strategy to give consumers a one-stop shop on the Internet. How will the consent decree foster competition for these future "platforms?" If the purpose of this case was to check Microsoft's monopoly power, how will the Justice Department ensure that this monopoly dominance is not extended from the desktop to the Internet? And why are critical new technologies, such as digital rights management and identity-authentication, exempted from the proposed settlement's disclosure provisions?
No kidding...
Though this part I really loved:
But the proposed consent decree contains a loophole in the definition of Non-Microsoft Middleware Products that denies that protection unless, in the prior year, "at least one million copies [of that rival software] were distributed m the United States." Id. VI.N. Thus, many start-up software companies with promising yet unproven technology in the pipe]me - precisely the companies most in need of protection from exercise of market power by a monopolist - will be left unprotected by the settlement. This could have a negative impact on the flow of venture capital and investment to technology start-ups - precisely the engine that drove the economic expansion of the late 1990s and a key to further expansion of our all-important technology sector.
Bracha pointed out that one problem with C++ templates is code bloat. For every List<T> of type T, C++ generates a separate class.
I'm glad someone posted this link. This is EXACTLY the problem with C++. It isn't in the class structures (they are almost exact to C's structs) but the fact that the templates have to generate seperate class structures to make sure that each one doesn't conflict.
This I have seen working with C++: A matter of a template has done almost a 25% - 80% reduction in my executable size. I'm not kidding -- from 1 MB to 200 kB! This was the case because I made two instances of the same class (cut 'n paste) because I really didn't need all the generics involved in the program. While typing all that stuff then doing a cut-n-paste was slow to do, the executable size was worth it.
Anyway, if you code in C++, the STL is decent FWIW. I wouldn't lean on it though if you're going to do major embedded coding... but get the String class; it's great.
ftp.sunet.se FTP server ready.
Sorry, there are too many anonymous users using the system at this time. There is currently a limit of 1000 anonymous ftp users.
Um, not any more... honestly, you should of not mentioned it on/.
Only "problem" I have is that I'd like to run a lower resolution(1024x768) in the game than on my desktop(1280x1024).
Simple fix here: There is a section called "Screens" in/etc/XFree86Config-4 where you can change the depth (it can be 16 or 24, where 24 is really 32-bit colour) and the resolutions that are available (Should be "Display" "1280x1024"...) Add other resolutions in the matter of "heightxwidth" and that'll fix it. Just make sure that they are added after the 1280x1024 else your screen will shrink.
Dead, but reportedly alive...

Some people just have WAY too much time on their hands -- what next, the C64 will be a Quake server?

Must be able to code in C++, VB, Java, .NET, FORTRAN, and have MCSE, CCNA, RHCE, and be willing to sacrifice your first born child.

Then we as the US could bar the sale of all goods here from Redmondia. :-)

Must of been a supernova that caused CNN, AOL-TW, M$, the MPAA...
Read all about it
But then I wanted to find software for it... and all I was told was "BeWare"!
Damn lag! I can't believe how lagged that Quake server is. I swear. I don't suck so bad; I just have a 22 hr ping time.
Or a Newfie!
One thing I don't want to hear out of tech support or my surgon...
And that would require a formal Amendment to the Constiution. The AC is right; it's very unlikely to happen.

You were talking about ISO standards.
What next? A device that runs Linux so that their toilet flushes? :-)
It's just picky about its friends
Do you get the CTRL-ALT-DEL-overextended-finger. Otherwise you so get the ps x strained eye on UNIX systems with an impulse to type kill -9.
