The big problems are that George would have wanted to direct them. Notice that everything he directs is pretty much shit. Episodes I, II, III? All directed by Lucas. Ep IV was directed by Lucas too, but I'm sure that one was good because he wasn't worried about making other movies or continuity. Ep V, VI? George handed the magaphone over and left the directing up to Irvin Kershner. Thus, we have good movies.

Remember Willow? Directed by Ron Howard, not Lucas. He needs a co-writer and to keep away from the director's chair to make good movies.

I've been dealing with Cingular since a little after the AT&T merger and they do suck. I figured they be better than Verizon, but were pretty much the same. Shit-for-brains customer service (had the nerve to tell me I had bad service because they didn't know what kind of phone i have... monthly for almost a year before I gave up). Coverage isn't worth getting excited over. I live in a metropolitan area and put up with almost no coverage (Never had a problem with Verizon in any part of the state I'm in and I did a lot of traveling with them). Just last Noveber I started getting coverage in my house. In the rural parts of the state? Nothing. Only the freeways are covered.

Also, I'm in the same camp about the iPhone. I've been excited to hear the rumors and even more excited to own one, but I won't purchase one if I have to stay with Cingular.

But often times it doesn't work. Often times you get your Tim Robbins and your Susan Sarandons and other relatively mindless do-gooder's trying to save the world promoting crap and the mindless drones that follow them are perfectly happy to accept this too. I only mention Tim and Susan because they scare the shit out of me when they appear together, like Lord Vader (Sarandon) with the Emperor(Robbins) silently standing behind watching. If they ever got elected to office.... woah...

You can get a preview DVD at Best Buy and I'm sure everywhere else if you pre-order for 10 bucks. Personally, I enjoy playing Generals and the expansion, but I know a lot of people who hate it. I beg to differ. I think most of the /. community will agree that the 'top' 2% of the worlds scientist have to make up for the other 98% of people's ignorance. Celebrities typically sit on the lower 15% as far as I'm concerned. But there are plenty of people who look at certain celebrities as demi-gods. Whatever they say goes.

If Brittany Spears can tell kids what's fashionable, then they're certainly just as willing to agree with her if she made an absurd claim that the reason the moon stays in orbit is because it's being pulled away from the earth, otherwise it would crash.

Hell, if Natalie Portman said, "Pi is exactly 3!" I'm sure many dotter's might be inclined to agree.

At any rate. Sounds like you can play PS2 whenever you want, and that's the real RPG hub. PSP is getting a lot of watered down ports from the PS2. Very few are any better than their PS2 counter-parts with little being added as far as content or playability.

Stick with a handheld as you can import any game and won't have a problem with regions. I would recommend the DS just because it's got a better interface and you've got a PS2 already. DS is getting lots of interesting games and a few ports that are worth owning. Plus you can play the GBA games you enjoy.

Maybe post a list of games that you have played and enjoyed and people can recommend off of that list. For now, I'd say just wait for the right games to be released.

I understand where the backstabbing labels are coming from. You said that people who see it would not pay to see it, thus it really is stealing. And very much the wrong attitude about it. Kind of like the guy who wouldn't pay for, say, a calculator. So he finds a way to get the parts much cheaper and builds one for himself as a copy of somebody else's. Then for a few buddies... blah blah blah. The guy is pirating and I'd be pissed if he copied my work.

Same for music. If you wouldn't pay for the rights to listen or watch, then don't. In this case just taking them is theft. Just record it off the radio/TV, which I think is still legal.

The only thing that I get steamed about is the DRM preventing me from making copies and backups for myself. I'll bloody well make as many copies of music I buy to keep it safe in whatever manner I choose.

Having taken multiple security courses for multiple security jobs, I can verify this. I do it all the time, too. Problem is that if the guard is well-educated about his job he'll know that he can ask you what's in your pockets and say he has a 'witness' that believes you slipped a CD or something in your pockets, but no, they have absolutely no right to check your receipt upon exit.

The worst part is that retail security has arguably the most 'power' over other, legally. Otherwise there isn't anything that a security guard can really do unless you've got disclaimers up the wazoo. Like driving into the Menards lumber yard. Generally you have to sign a slip that says your vehicle is subject to invasive search to exit the yard.

Though most of the peripheral equipment is slightly tweaked for gaming, the PS3's Cell processors are meant to function as general purpose cores. Sony's been touting them as such for a long time. Though I don't have the link, some of the people pulling these apart are finding mostly standard computer equipment inside. The BIOS and the old Emotion Engine are about all that is differing, IIRC.

Add all that to numerous claims that the PS3 is not meant to be a game machine, so much as a home entertainment console. In other words, a living room computer. So I would say that some of these comparisons have weight. And I believe that with the exception of Nintendo's Gamecube, consoles are slowly melding into living room PCs. Heck, the XBox and the 360 are both computers with optimizations for gaming.

I've got both WMP 11 and iTunes 7.0. IIRC WMP11 was out after iTunes 7.0. So if Apple was borrowing from MS, I haven't a clue how. WMP seems to be a blatant copy of iTMS. I've never tried to sync or even interact with my iPod over any WMP interface, so I'll give it a shot the next time I update my music, but as the GP poster mentioned, it's already very simple with iTunes. I've got a 4Gb player and about 10Gigs of music. I've got artist that I listen to very often (about 2Gb) and then some that I switch on and off. I got the iPod because it was just better than any of the other players I had (Sandisk, Sanyo, Sony, Samsung). All of which had excruciatingly painful interfaces (Samsung being the worst, followed closely by Sony).

I'm not big on product loyalty. You never know when a product will turn to trash in its next iteration, so if, say this guy had a better interface and syncing software, I'd get it or whatever trumps the iPod next September on my iPod's expected dead-battery birthday (when I plan on replacing the battery and giving it to my sister).
