Why not include firewire? Hmm, let's see. Oh, that's right, because there's ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKING POINT.

USB cant handle this bandwith? Did you know that 1+1=2? Do any of you linux fucks know how to read? IT COMPRESSES THE GOD DAMN DATA BEFORE IT SENDS IT TO THE MAC! WOW, IMAGINE THAT! The website says about 650 megs per hour. That's 10 megs per minute. Thats one meg every six seconds. You think USB can't handle that? Christ. I hate all of you.

Yah, firewire would definitely be a requirement if this thing had a hard drive and stored the video there, and then you had to transfer it to a mac to burn it. But guess what? That's not how it works! It compresses and sends it to the mac AS YOURE RECORDING! WOW IMAGINE THAT!

What's it matter anyways, none of you linux fucks own a mac. So you can all blow my fully erect cock. Fuckers.

I'd have to disagree with that. EG, one of my favorite bands is NOFX, and I've found all sorts of bootlegs and songs from 7 inch records on filesharing networks, that I would never, EVER have been able to find in stores, because they're so rare. Several other bands too, like nine inch nails, nirvana, eminem... All sorts of bootlegs that would be nearly impossible to get. (and by bootleg, I don't mean live sets).

  8. Re:it is 400Mb/s... on iPod for Windows (again) · · Score: 1

I get between 10 and 15 MB/sec. The hard drive is limiting the speed I think. But, even at "only" 1/5 - 1/3 the theoritcal maximum, it's still fast as hell. It takes less than 10 minutes to go from an empty drive to a full drive. And since I've filled it up, I've never emptied it. Sometimes I take some artists off and replace with others, and then the syncing there takes like one minute. No biggy. Its a great machine :)

All I remember is that it used to suck to have to set up Windows NT 4.0 on a system and try to download all the latest service packs, browsers, etc. to discover that the POS IE 2.0 they bundled with it couldn't read ASP pages (insisted on .htm or .html) which is what MS put its updates on microsoft.com in.

Tell me about it.. ha! The first time I ever installed NT4 (after probably hundreds of installs with 95 and 98), I ran into the same problem. It was totally ludicrous. IE2 is the worst browser I've ever freaking used. Luckily I managed to find a CD with all the service packs up through 5 on it, and then was able to use windowsupdate to get 6. What a PITA. :)

Look, even if they do disable XP when you try to install the service pack, you can always just reinstall. I have dual boot linux/XP machine at home, and I will definitely try to install the service pack when it comes out. If it gives me shit and disables XP, big deal, I'll reinstall. Installing and setting up windows to the way I like only takes like an hour.

No. This is not going to remove IE or anything else made by MS from windows. It will just allow PC makers to change the defaults through a standard interface.

  17. Let's look at this another way... on The Music Business and the Internet · · Score: 2, Interesting

In Germany, 18% of 10,000 consumers surveyed said burning CDs resulted in them buying less music ... while 35% of people downloading more than 20 songs per month said they now buy less music as a result.

What about the 82% of germany consumers who bought MORE music because of burning cds? What about the 65 percent of people downloading 20 or more songs a month who bought MORE music as a result?

And how do CD singles fit into the picture? I remember the whole scandal last year about drooping cd sales, only to find in the fine print it was CD singles that were accountable for this statistic, full album sales themselves were either the same or higher. Maybe I'm talking out of my ass... Regardless, you gotta love how people always phrase statistics in a way that suits their view.
