I agree. I don't know about most people, but the reason I bought a portable gaming device (GBA SP) was for travel. I use it on the airplane, on the train, when visiting relatives, etc. The PSP is too big to use on the train (so is the DS), and with only ~5 hrs battery life is not good for long flights. I think the PSP has a great screen, but I wonder how many people can justify the price for what is essentialy a portable PS1 that works best when a power outlet is nearby.. kind of like my laptop with a weak battery.
I don't know if Sears still has this policy, but it used to be that if a Craftsman tool was damaged under any circumstances whatsoever, they would replace it no questions asked. If you still have the Craftsman tools, it might be worthwhile to ask about it.
Hey, it's just a number. Personally, I find it more curious that certain chipmakers *cough*intel*cough* go out of their way to avoid labeling their products with "666" in any way. (Pentium III 667 MHz, etc)
Though, considering the number of superstitious nitwits in this country, they probably made the right decision. Can you imagine what Pat Robertson, etc. calling for an Intel boycott would do to their sales?;)
And so what about the 99.9% of us who DONT live in Chicago?
Pop. of Chicago: ~2.9 Million
Pop. of United States: ~293 Million
2.9/293 = 0.0098, or about 1%
Considering that, as our Eurpoean friends are always happy to remind us, Slashdot is a US-centric site, and considering that geeks are more likely to live in an urban area, I think it's safe to say that at *least* 1% of the readership would be within the area.
And so what about the 0.000001% of us who DONT use Windows?
All too many people in this country (like my mother) think that Communism is the opposite of Democracy. Communism is the opposite of Capitalism, not Democracy. As you stated, the opposite of Democracy is Totalitarianism. I think this educational deficiency is the result of many years of cold war propoganda, linking Communism with Totalitarianism in many people's minds.
According to the article, Levono is the PC manufacturer fomerly known as Legend. Not exactly known for their high quality in the past, but hopefully they can provide the quality to go along with the IBM name..
I just wrote a college report about the effect of "moral values" on the recent election. I'm not going to inundate you with data, but two Reuters poll questions seem extremely interesting:
When asked if government should promote traditional values in our society, 75% of all Bush voters were in favor. However, 66% of all Bush voters indicated that "Government is trying to do too many things that should be left to individuals and businesses," while only 23% indicated that "Government should do more to solve our country's problems." If we assume the 23% who think that government should do more also support the "moral values" initiative, this means that 52% of Bush voters appear to hold the conflicting beliefs that government should both promote traditional values and stay out of people's lives.
Prime conjecture: conservatives don't mind big government when it's their agenda which is being promoted. Not surprising, really.
Somebody needs to tell Google that Mozilla supports the position:fixed CSS property. I like the idea of the floating topic name and link to top, but that JavaScript timer based implementation simply has to go.
You call 80 GB a "small" database? Granted, I'm sure certain entities like credit reporting bureaus and the federal gov't have terabytes of data, but 80 gig seems fairly large to me..
Pretty much; I commute to work on the El, and it gets crowded enough at rush hour to be jammed together like sardines.. ;)

I think if my bank started putting unskippable advertistments on the ATM machines, it would be time to find a new bank..
Al Czervik: You're a lot of woman, you know that? You wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

I cannot overemphasize the need for a good edumacation. A mail order degree is no replacement for a true collage experience!

Anybody else read "DOD" as "Department of Death"? Too much Grim Fandango, I guess..
Mutt
Or up-tempo singing and dancing..

Saying the smirking chimp was re-elected is inaccurate, since his first presidency was determined by the Supreme Court.
On my 2Ghz/512MB machine, I stopped bothering after, I think, 3 days
OOo does take quite some time to compile. On my Athlon 2600+ w/512 DDR 233 it took about a day..
Hmm, 640 years should be enough for anybody..
Some of us like the Netscape Mail interface..
I thought TWM stood for Tom's Window Manager?

And Vim is better than either..
The fact several people modded this humorous comment insightful scares me..
Array
I'm curious, does your sig somehow trick Slashcode into interpreting it as an array, or did you just type 'Array' there? :)
