Agreed. The open letter is a laugh. "We're not pirates, we're future customers!" Oh, you plan on buying the product later? Oh, OK, in that case go ahead and play it now. That just doesn't make sense. I've pirated software in the past, and I had no delusions of being in the right. I knew it was wrong, I was stealing plain and simple.
Do you actually laugh like "hehe" in real life, or is it just some typing that you picked up? It sounds REALLY girly. I can just imagine you with your index finger in your mouth, trying to act cute as you giggle "hehe" before going into the rest of your post. I find it surprising that you'd preface a serious point with a cutesy laugh like that.
Companies need release dates... how else would companies set a date to start selling their products? What the hell are you talking about? As for why they don't release games when they go gold, it's because if Valve just started selling via the Internet, they wouldn't get any business from people with slow internet connections, and retailers would say "Sierra, you're telling us you're not going to sell this hugely anticipated game in the standard channels? Well fuck you, we'll keep your products off the shelf."
I saw a kit that sounds like what you're describing in one of those specialty gift catalogs that you only seem to get during the Christmas season. No idea what the name of the catalog is though, sorry.
Killing off freecell.exe. Good idea! I get mad when I'm midgame and my shift at work gets over. I want to leave on one hand, but on the other hand, I don't want to blow my streak. Thanks!
I've been playing Vice City lately, trying to bide my time until I can get a new PS2 and San Andreas, and one thing I noticed is that in VC, there are actually other criminals! And you're right, the carjackers are the guys running lights and doing the reckless driving that knocks me off my PCJ.
Apple provides its developer tools for free if you buy the operating system. They are only charging for the pre-release access. It's more like signing up for the MSDN service from Microsoft.
Realistically, how much of a gain would student developers get by developing for Tiger over Panther? It makes more sense to learn to program on a released OS than on a beta one. What if something goes screwy? Do you blame it on the OS or your inexperience?
The blurb didn't make this clear, but the article says that only games that are age-restricted will require ID. So kids without ID can still get sports games and games that are deemed OK for kids. I was worried there for a second... way to discriminate against a good chunk of your audience.
That is a good point. How could he possibly gain more votes? I voted for Nader last time around because I didn't think Gore was much better than Bush (hindsight's 20-20), so the Dems will be getting one more vote from me and everyone else who thinks that this time's too important to vote for a third party Green candidate.
Also, I don't think Kerry would buckle down if we were to have a re-run of the Florida fiasco this time. He knows that the US thought that was fucked up. He'd look like even more of a pussy than Gore did when he threw in the towel.
That is a really good idea, moving over slow like that. It's so obvious, I can't believe I hadn't thought of it myself! Too bad I'm not in charge of doing any migrations. Maybe later down the road.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I like a lot of the JS stuff, and I agree with their political slant, but some of that's just plain cruel. Kilborn wasn't quite as mean. A smartass, yes, but it seemed more good-natured. It seemed like they found wackier people to interview when Kilborn was doing the show, too. Now they are more into just acting like asses or taking regular peoples' comments out of context.
Why is it never ok to lie but in business its expected? Because businessmen are, by and large, more interested in money than in being a decent, honest person. There are very few principled businessmen.
Minibosses ain't shit. Check out "The Advantage." A guy from Hella's in that band. So you know it's good.
I'd complain about the quality. Pasty white geek asses are liable to blind the viewers under fluorescent lighting and VHS! Ouch.

Chip's challenge has been ported to Linux. You need to keep the original .dat file for levels. The Linux implementation is called Tile World. Enjoy.

The metal ones we used to have were called Jarts. They were OK. I still prefer croquet.

Mine gave me the auto update. In fact I updated, and THEN read about it on Slashdot. Quite a reversal from what usually happens with Firefox updates.

You make a really good point.
With all the homicides in Vice City and Liberty City, can you blame them?
I'm sorry, we all know that when Wesley Crusher tries to seem cool and pick up chicks, he goes by Wes. Not Wil. It worked on Ashley Judd.
I prefer:
My grandfather died in a concentration camp. He fell off a guard tower!
The delivery's important with that one... typing it sort of kills it a bit.

And those are provided by Audible.com. I think they're less restrictive than iTunes is. You don't need iTunes software to get to their site.

Put your sig in the sig box rather than in the body of your message. I shut those off for a reason.

Then you're not going to be buying a Mac, now are you?

They've invented this already. It's called a cell phone. Get this- NO WIRES!
