  1. Seesaw WTF? on Dissecting the Neural Circuitry of Fear · · Score: 1

That seesaw/garden hose analogy is really tortured. In fact, I think it could easily induce fear in the faint hearted.

  2. Poor English on LimeWire Lives Again · · Score: 1

It is amazing how the standard of English grammar and spelling plummets particulary on threads about file-sharing. Appalling that the advocates for freedom are so poor at expressing their/they're/there essentially good ideas!

  3. Re:file sharing is the hydra of greek legend on LimeWire Lives Again · · Score: 1

yes, and there is such a thing as a day job. That's what pays the rent and bills.

Are you a musician? You sound like you're just making stuff up and are not a musician. I am and I disagree with most of what you say and the way you say it.

Don't bother. Waste of time. Bit Torrent instead.

  6. On your lap? on Is Your Laptop Cooking Your Testicles? · · Score: 1

So who actually uses a laptop on his/her lap? I never do. It is not a sperm or a skin burn thing - I just never do. Just becuase they have the dumb name of laptop doesn't mean you have to use them on your lap. There are other more suitable surfaces in most environments!

  7. Seems to work on The Placebo Effect Not Just On Drugs · · Score: 1

The close door and open door buttons seem to work as they should in the small office building where I work. However, they probably predate the 1990s and are constantantly breaking down! I have very rarely seen a walk button in NYC. I find it hard to believe there were ever 3,250 of them.

  8. A really long time on Skin-Tight Bodysuits Could Protect Astronauts From Bone Loss · · Score: 1

What happens if you stay in space a really long time? Do you just become a floating bag of boneless flesh? Why haven't we seen a dramatization of this, or did I miss something? I think it is a fascintating concept that the bones just disappear over time.

  9. Headline? on Will Netflix Destroy the Internet? · · Score: 1

The punctuation in the summary is...wrong. What part of the text is the 'headline' to which the summary refers?

  10. Woohoo! on Miniature Human Livers Grown In Lab · · Score: 1

This calls for miniature fava beans and miniature bottles of Chianti (made from miniature grapes).

  13. Why bother? on How Much Math Do We Really Need? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Yeah, like why bother? We're all going to die anyway. I did not RTFA but the summary is horribly defeatist in tone.

  24. Re:useful functionality, for those not in the know on Bittorrent To Replace Standard Downloads? · · Score: 1

my bandwidth is minimal. I'm sure it is a good solution. I suppose I hope I'm never in such a situation where a direct download is not viable. Not meaning to take anything away from your tip.

  25. Re:Good luck with that on Bittorrent To Replace Standard Downloads? · · Score: 1

RCN was caught blocking BT some months ago and promised it would stop doing so. Seems to be doing it again. Time Warner seems to be oblivious. I'd be very curious to know what the policies are within each of the ISPs with regard to BT. How is it fair to blanket block torrents when it is presumably not known whether they are 'legal' or not?
