I remember in drama class in high school seeing a production still of your Puck with Lorne Greene's Oberon, which I believe was from the Royal Canadian Shakesperean Theatre Co.
Given the history of Patrick Stewart, Kelsey Grammer, etc, my question is this: Is Shakespeare a necessary prequisite for becoming a starship captain of any sort?
The original Tron had the same impact that the original Star Wars(what you younger people know as 'Episode 4') had on us, which is probably the same as LOTR had on you.
It was new technology and very exciting, and for a 14 year old, Tron blew my mind! This was the first CG movie - albeit not totally, but enough to make us salivate at the possibilities.
It may be just another movie for y'all, but trust me, every one of us children of the 80's are busting a gut right now. Allow us our excitement!
While I am all in favor of more wind power, here's something to keep in mind: this spring the Texas control area (the organization that manages power flows in the Texas region) had an incident where the temperature stayed warm into the evening and the weather conditions were such that the wind died across the entire state. Of course the wind turbine power went to zero across the entire state as well, driving the system into yellow (risk of blackout/system collapse) and close to red before they could get enough backup gas turbines on-line.
As I said, wind is great but it needs to be backed up with hydro and probably nuclear to have a reliable system.

That's probably where the transmission line truly manifested itself. I live in West Texas, and see no less than at least three wind ranches between my house and work.
I've seen almost half an entire field of the generators shut down when the wind is blowing.
Better transmission would avoid the risk of brownouts, because, believe me, there's enough power to be made out here:)
IDJC with icecast2 server. Two consoles with fade, you can go auto or run it manually. Mic and phone input, and I believe skype support. mp3, og, and aac support as well.
Magnatune.com has been doing the same thing for a while now - minus the extra player. They work on an "honor" system. You pay what you think the artists are worth, and you can make as many copies as you need, even give 3 away to other people.
And if you must have major label stuff, Real Rhapsody has a beta version FireFox plugin that allows you to use the entire jukebox service. Given, you can't download and keep it, but at least you can listen to the service, and Real is doing something for us Linux users.
If there's no God, Why do people keep asking Him to bless and damn everything?
"It will if the RIAA has any say in the matter. The last thing they want is Internet radio. Consider that they pay broadcast radio to play songs but demand to be paid for the same songs going over the Internet."
Trust me, What they pay with one hand, they take with the other. Yearly bradcast licensures can cost as high as just over $3,000 yearly. Its about $1,500 for internet streaming.
Now get this: Re-broadcasting your own signal is not covered by the former, and so you have to pay extra to re-broadcast your own signal.
OTOH, One really cannot be "just" a radio or internet station. One needs to be both, as a radio station still serves its local market, as well as those who are travelling - people like listening to something familiar while in the their hotel room.
Couple that with IM/Email contact with the personalities, maybe some forums for listeners (it works great for non-comm, religious stations), then listeners feel like they're part of something, and are much more willing to fund projects.
Ahh the days! Trade Wars, CrossRoads, not to mention single dial-in (before MajorBBS, Ripterm, and other multi-line BBS systems) Thanks for clearing out the cobwebs!
It strikes me funny that lawmakers are concerned about anti-competetive practices among corperations (Clear Channel, Salem, Cumulus, et al), and not look at the environs that are creating such large entities...
For example: K-localstation with a potential audience of 100,000 is humming along fine playing POP/AC along with web simulcast.
Firstly, the RIAA managed to get legislation passed to receieve royalties, RETROACTIVELY - I might add, and therefore has to shut down the webcast and figure out how to pay for the previous casting...an expense no one could have reasonably foretold.
Secondly, HugeRadio Corperation decides to entire the market, first by trying to purchase the local station for a mere pittance of actual value, then muscling in by sheer force, offering advertisers lower advertising, greater transmitting, etc....
K-localradiostation cannot, already finacially strapped due to the RIAA, bad economy, etc, cannot possibly compete and eventually sells out, not to the first corperation, but to a compteting one.
I don't see who breaking up these corperations are going to save the local stations without removing some of the legislation and "fees" that are killing them in the first place...smells like relection legislation to me.
At least its not pink.

Whether he was right or wrong, as I understamd it, A scientist should be able to state his ideas without fear of reprisals such as that.

1: Marry hot wife.
2: Run for Presisent
3: Look for UFO's
4: Constantly throw in use legislation that no one is interested in.
Really, there are more intersting things to be politcal about....

USA: "We're number 49! We're number 49!" (in literacy)
Sheesh..there's a book???? I never even saw the movie!
I believe it was Farscape that tried to create fan-funded production.

Isnt this the same Gartner that has issued other pro-MS "reports"? Certainly not worth $95.00...
I wondered how long it was going to take for that to happen. I wonder if they'll base it off the FASA world.
I know its buried in the myriad of thread, but here is legal precident from the SC concerning parodies.

Its the SC ruling from the 1995 case, so lots of legalese (wheres the langiage support Google for THAT one?)

It does.

As far music is concerned, the Supreme Court ruled in 1995 that parodies were completely legal without royalties, etc...
This is the ruling from the case - lots of legalese, but it is precident.
