I don't think it goes too far at all.

MS went as far as fabricating evidence to convince the court that IE was a core component of Windows, and that they weren't just trying to freeze out Netscape. They went as far as infringing Sun's copyright in an attempt to take control of the Java API.

MS has PIRATED billions of dollars from its competitors. It's time for them to start paying restitution.

I wouldn't trust the MTBF numbers anyway. It's conceivable that manufacturers put SCSI interfaces on their prime drives, and IDE on the seconds, but who knows for sure?

For the cost of the SCSI drive you quoted, plus the cost of a basic HBA, you could have two of the IDE drives and a 3ware raid controller. I'll take the latter. The SCSI tax is just too high for many apps. Does NCR make megabucks on SCSI?

Spam is denial of service. It uses up my phone line, email, answering machine, trash can, time, and patience. It costs me money and privacy. It's getting worse and there's little I can do about it.

Spam is necessary. We must be heard. We can trade information about people and target our efforts, or we can shoot at anything that moves. People are becoming desensitized to our messages, so we must turn up the volume.

Mmmmmmmm!!! profit! We could easily offer customers ways of eliminating spam, but it would be like cutting our own throats. We can't let the gov regulate us. If *we* regulate the gov properly, we can score big bucks by selling "weapons" to both sides.

The lesson we needed to learn from 9/11 is to lock the cockpit doors, not to suspend civil rights.

We're all paying for the mistakes of airline "security experts" who had their heads so far up their ass they allowed 100-ton guided missiles to be taken over by punks with knives. Once the doors were locked, did they really think it was necessary to start confiscating nail clippers?

With all due respect to the victims of 9/11, the big damage to our society is happening now, and it's being done by a president who lost the popular election.

Bush can't even hide his evil little grin whenever he talks about 9/11. 3000 lives mean nothing to guys like him, except as an opportunity to play the power game. I suspect he'll throw the Saudies under the bus and manipulate us into buying our oil from, oh, i dunno, Texas?

I think the current political climate makes this very appropriate.

In Germany, the Reichstag burned, and "patriotic" Germans gave Nazi's the power to burn books, turn Jews into scapegoats, and make war.

We need to speak out against powerful groups (Disney, FCC, congress, white house) while we still can.

If they get this one thru, the next step could be to require that your tv "phone home" to report on what you're watching. Will it be time to speak up then? Or, will people let it slide because "they have nothing to hide".
