The only thing Apple is "guilty" of is being the first company to make tablets that did not suck big green ones and that people actually wanted to buy and use. Nobody was able to make the technology popular before them.
Being the first one to do something well, doesn't mean you're the first one to have the idea, and it certainly doesn't give you iron clad rights to prevent anyone else from trying to make a better one.
Put more clearly, Apple is guilty (as are so many companies) of filing frivolous patent lawsuits.
I've lived in San Antonio for about two years now. I enjoy a good IT job with the military (big military presence here). The only fly in the ointment is the long, brutally hot summers we've had the last few years. (Much hotter than average)
Is it possible that your estimation of "much" is colored by them being your first two summers in the area?
It is generating buzz. Bad or good, that is the goal of an ad campaign.
You don't want to generate buzz by destroying your hard-earned brand identity. Let's compare:
1) Old campaign "You can intuitively and effortlessly do cool things with our products." 2) New campaign "You will find yourself in tech emergencies while using our products, from which only a trained professional can save you (even though we used to tell you this only happened to customers of our competitor)."
I would rather have my data in hand of governement ONLY (and anyway they almost certainly have it or can subponea it) which is beholden to keep it secure, rather than in the hand in private industry which can sell it to anybody, can be unsecure, and can just snub me if I don't want to have it spread.
"Your data" in this case is a few seconds you were transmitting in the open as a car drove by.
It's funny, but not analogous. They aren't trying to make a new universal connector and get everyone onboard. Apple is (reportedly) trying to make a new proprietary connector for i-products only.
A few weeks out? I was running mine for August 6. That's how I got $415. I just ran the same trip (Newark to LAX, anyway) on United.com and it comes to $453 with one layover. So that's $415 and 60+ hours of travel time vs $450 and 8+ hours of travel time.
I have a friend who works for Amtrak and it seems like a cool way to travel regionally, but I'd never go farther than maybe up the coast a state or two (LA to Portland could be fun).
How are you getting $212? All I can find is $415 and 67 hours for the shortest trip. Don't get me wrong, that's a far cry from $1k, but it sucks compared to a flight. The OP is comparing apples and oranges anyway. If done correctly, airlines = long haul, rail = regional.
Taking care of peoples basic needs would stop a lot of bad behavior.
All your ensuing examples are insightful. But I'm not sure how that translates into getting girlfriends for hackers. I'd love to hear your suggestions for how society can meet that need.
Remember: If Hollywood makes one movie out of a book, they suck because they cut out all those important scenes. If they make two movies, they suck because they are just trying to cash in.
Just because there are multiple ways to fail, does not mean there is no path to success. If the Lord of the Rings books each got a single film, I don't see how the Hobbit needs to be stretched into two. It is a shorter, simpler source material.
Movies have trailers, and product placement. TVs have ads. Magazines have ads. A lot of the xBox applications, like Hulu Plus, have ads. What is the big deal, exactly?
Similarly, "no pun intended" has only quite limited uses, since by its nature it calls attention to the pun.
Sometimes the most accurate way to describe something sounds like a joke. You're not saying it isn't funny, you're saying it's accurate.
Creationism is just a symptom of a much more fundemental problem.
I see what you did there.
I honestly cannot tell if you think he made a pun on fundamentalists, or you are lampooning him for casting stones at others while spelling poorly.
You're using it as a player, not a server. You probably would not have any problems if it were a server.

"Crises."

Thanks for making this political. We couldn't have done it without you.
Is that like the tired joke department?
No, they say the portrait of Jobs in the Apple boardroom shed a tear when the ads were screened. Or maybe they had the AC turned up too high.
I heard the Steve Jobs in that portrait can travel freely to the portrait in his house to get away it all, or send messages in emergencies.

One 2-3 hour film would have been enough. It's a children's book, it's not an epic.
Get through the summary? Or have a general idea why we should read TFA?

The tech may be old, but the art always seemed top notch to me.
They'll keep making the same type of movies until they aren't profitable. And then they'll keep making making them some more.
Its GOOD that its more expensive. FORCE the companies to pay the lower level people better, and the upper level people worse.
PLUS, its not a 5 minute drive to a golf course like the valley. That should help keep the useless mba people away.
Because when companies have less money to spend, they trim off the top.
Why is it that stupid people hate Apple? Is there something about being stupid that I just don't get?
And yet many of us prefer the company of the decent and stupid to the condescending and average.

They did cut a lot of what was in LotR books for the film, though.
Which, most people would probably agree, was a great idea. Tom Bombadil? No thanks.
That's sad. You take the brewing, I'll take the wife and kids.
