referred to in the write-up was "A Fish Full of Dollars." In it, comercials are beamed directly into a person's (Fry's) dreams. He is made to want to buy Lightspeed Briefs.

"Well, sure, but not in our dreams. Only on TV and radio. And in magazines and movies. And at ball games and on busses and on milk cartons and T-shirts and bananas and written on the sky. But not in dreams! No sir-ee!" --Fry
It is not in the best interest of Microsoft to fix anything. By leaving things insecure, and broken they can charge for incremental upgrades. Their business plan has worked for years, and there's no real sign of it failing now. This is not approval of the Win OS or Microsoft business practices. I'm just saying it's designed to make Microsoft as much money as possible. And by no means is the company stupid. You don't get a 299.87 billion dollar market cap by being stupid. You do it by being ruthless.
Meh. I'm using gentoo, but I wanted to do a cvs install to get all the latest goodies. It's a pretty easy install. I backed up/usr/X11R6 and/etc/X11 and then followed the directions here, although it really is as easy as:
cd xc
make World
su -c make install
If you want compositing, then enable that in the xorg.conf file.
Nobody (on his or her right mind) is arguing that we should have one computer to, say, use openoffice, one computer to connect to the network or one computer to listen to music. That's on the psysical layer.
Also respectfully, I think that you need to rethink your position. The computer does only one thing well. It runs programs.
Simstim is on they way. If only I could get those Zeiss Ikon eyes implanted! Remember though: Sendai eyes may be cheaper but they have severe problems with depth perception and may cause optic nerve degeneration.
If you want a replacement for Forte Agent, you should check out Pan (pimp ass newsreader). This is the best newsreader if you want text groups or if you want to leech binaries.
Oh my. Now that is truly bizarre. Thanks for the link. It will provide many hours of entertainment (and aggravation). There is no end to the weird stuff people believe.
"The boat was built of wood and big enough to hold two of *every* animal on earth, dinosaurs included (how did he round them up, those fuckers are big?)"
Dinosaurs and humans did not exist on earth at the same time. Unless you're counting birds.
Quite true. I've been using Gentoo for the last 2 years, and have become accustomed to it. Recently I tried to install Fedora Core 1 for my parents, and I said to hell with it. IMHO, neither yum nor apt-get have the ease of use of ebuilds. Of course, there are some packages for which I'd rather not have a system wide install. In that case, they get installed under ~/packages. and I update the ld files manually.
He has been left with some permanent reminders of the project with some erratic early tattooing attempts.
How hard would it have been to not use a real needle for the initial tests? Replace the needle with the head of a Sharpie and voila, indelible yet non-disfiguring marks.
Go ahead and buy it if you want, but it really won't make your dick any bigger.
Quite true. This chip does not give me the hard-on that the Athlon MP2000+ gives me. Therefore, while the Athlon will make my dick "bigger" this new chip from intel is useless for that express purpose.
Probably that's the case, but since we've been using solaris, everything has been pretty good. Anyway, do you do IT for a hospital or are you a physician?
I know what PACS is, i've used it before. Anyway, the system at my hospital runs on solaris. Something by CNSoft i believe. PACSview is an annoying system at best, and at worst, the system is down when I want to view an xray -- which happened often. And yes, I do know that not every server is a webserver. The servers that count though, are running unix.
Exactly what windows-only stuff is a server going to need? The only thing that changes is where the business gets support from. If the business hired an in-house specialist, well, he/she can be fired, and support bought from a linux company.
I really take offense to the people here who state that "The AMA are just a bunch of money grubbing..." whatever. These people have no clue as to how much the average doctor gets paid these days.
As a resident ~ $37,000 a year for ~100 to 110 hours of work per week.
As a Primary care physician ~$180,000 for ~80 to 100 hours a week (of course this figure really depends on how much you want to work)
As a specialist ~ it really depends. Usually not above $300,000 a year
And that's after 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, 3 years of residency, 3 years of fellowship and for some a couple of years post fellowship. And, remember that most people are in the hole ~$180,000 - $200,000 (including interest) after medical school.
So, in my particular case I'll be seeing $300,000 a year after 12 years of getting under mimimum wage. If anyone wanted to cut it more than that, well, then bye, bye medicine. You can go see the baseball players that get $5,000,000 a year (and still want to strike for more money) hooked up with a medical database.
That said, I think that the database is a good idea. Technology is our friend -- already my colleagues and I use software for the Palm platform which finds obscure drug interactions. The PKC is an extension of this kind of functionality. Change is good.

Mmm, tasty Futurama.

Yeah, figured that out looking at the other shots. Gonna try and compile E again, but i'm not holding my breath.

You can make any distro look like that. Running enlightenment wm, and probably a gdesklet called starterbar.
Yes, you're correct. It's a gdesklet display called starterbar.
Also respectfully, I think that you need to rethink your position. The computer does only one thing well. It runs programs.
Don't worry. WWIII is coming. The turmoil in the middle east now is leading up to a nuclear scenario in Asia.

Is he still your friend?
Dude, thanks for the mp3! That was awesome!
You do know that that your mozilla problems are due to a faulty operating system right?
Dude, thanks for the link to Xcruiser, that is a most intriguiing program.
