You'll have to take it out of my cold dead hands, you bloody apes!
Wow, Microsoft pulled a fast one on all of us, getting us to defend XP like this when only a few years back we demonized it. See you in a few years, defending against Vista's demise.
The Judeo-Christian religions have always pushed the existence of other life forms. Various species angels, demons, etc, were always depicted as something other than human. Where do you think they came from? "Created by God" can cover many things even if you only believe as far as God triggering the Big Bang(s). There's still plenty of room for God's other creation - Darwin - in there.
Going to the bookstore is to be avoided. Not for the reason that I'll never buy a book in a bookstore these days when their prices are way above the online places that offer cheaper books with free shipping. Not because it's an unenjoyable experience.
Only because I will come home with more books to put on my shelf that is already sagging with books that I want to read, but haven't had time for yet. The dead tree versions have a texture and smell that a PDF can never replace. It's a purely enjoyable experience. I'll spend a couple of hours there without noticing as I try hard to decide on only a few books from the many genres I read. What agony.
Anything that will natively read a PDF is a great win in my book, no pun intended. The iPhone/Touch has a built in PDF reader, but without being able to store them on the device and bookmark the last page read or have a way to jump ahead to a certain page, it falls short. The perfect eBook reader is yet to come and when it does, it will be hotter than the Kindle.

I believe you. Right now she's helping OJ track the real killer.
No, only because I actually paid for their last CD and it was really bad. After years of being a loyal fan, they owe me big time with some free downloading.
Bringing everything down to fewer single points of failure sounds like a good way to make DoS attacks more successful. Hopefully they intend on having each of these gateways redundant out the wazoo.
Cryptonomicon is the only one that has something of an ending.
Not really. It left us hanging there wondering what was going to happen to all that gold they found. I imagine that they were going to come up with a plan to divide it they way they divided up the furniture, but being as it's gold and pretty much all the same it was more likely there would be a shoot out.
And somehow they managed to mess it the product when they effectively had a good start. For not embracing openness, Microsoft completely cripples their product and makes sure that serious virtualization implementers will avoid that solution at all costs.
Yes, because the problem is QUALITY workers. There are plenty of people who are paper cert IT admins or are just not qualified to do any of the work they are given. Recently while hiring we went through reams of resumes and even then plenty of interviews with people who had lied on their resumes. There is not a lot of good talent out there for true administration, and a lot of one trick admins that don't see the need to diversify their talent against changes in the industry. I'm not saying everyone needs to be a jack of all trades, but it's nice to have people who can shift gears in exchange for a 6 figure salary.
The problem with Smartmedia was that the memory logic was in the device rather than the memory card, so the device had an upper limit of what it was released with. To get the device upgraded you had to send it in and pay for it.
I remember winning one of those. It has 32Mb and I added a (poorly named) 32MB Smartmedia card for a total of 64MB which still could not hold a whole album. Quite a bummer.
I saw the Hobbit animated film and Bakshi's Lord of the Rings as a child. I read the Hobbit a very long time ago in High School after picking up a 50th anniversary edition on a trip to the UK. A year before the LotR films first came out I flew through the three books and loved them. Then I hit the Silmarillion and came to a screeching halt. Every chapter read like "someone begat someone else" and "someone, brother of , was once known as and became known as." I couldn't believe I was reading works by the same author.
I suspect that JRRT's work was actually much farther away from publication than that. That at some point LotR actually looked like that and was lovingly crafted into a novel. The Silmarillion is nothing more than a Middle Earth history text, so for those that like bland flavorless text, have at it. I would have preferred it was also lovingly crafted rather than rushed out to capitalize on the father's memory. Think of the horrors Christopher's Tolkien's kid is going to wreak on the grandfather's memory.
Bad analogy. The construction of Disneyland involves processes that are commonly known. Copying the exact designs themselves would constitute trademark infringement, a whole other topic. But making another amusement park with the same rides with other characters pasted on would just be a money losing continuation of what's already been going on in the amusement park industry.
User generated content just follows along the lines of urban legends. Expert content at least stems from previous discussions within expert communities where well modeled critiquing techniques other than Godwin's Law are used.
That's because the acronym for a Blu-ray disk being used for DVD purposes is BD-DVD. That rolls off the tongue so much better than HD-DVD. Neither is as bad as the nightmare of DiVX which was usually preceded or followed by "Is this how you say it?" while walking through any store. "CD" and "DVD" are simple and none of these have that charm.

Wine is not effective.
I think everything you pointed out would have driven me away from the PSP as a personal device. Run!

You must have loved that Iomega Zip drive. *rolls eyes*

Dogs use Mutt for text editing, which shows how stupid they are.
However, I personally found it rather poorly written
THEN UR NOT DOING IT RIGHT

Don't forget those overpriced Apple machines. I'm sure Eee will be toppling them any second now. Aaaany second.

Sorry, I missed something. When did Microsoft acquire Mozilla and introduce bugs into Firefox?
Always skip one version of the OS. In my case I went from Win98 to WinXP.
The Iranians will be easier to take down once they have no access to their LOLCATS or spam.
Get serious, folks.
