    Who certifies it?

The whole decision smells of some slimey lawyer.

I remember during a jury selection process that some sleazebag lawyer kept going on and on about innocent until proven guilty and he (the lawyer) didn't have to prove innocence. He also went on about how we should not give any special weight to the word of a Law Officer. While this all may sound fine, the defendant was accused of driving on a suspended licence. There is not a lot of proof needed to show guilt here. After all this, the lawyer managed to delay the trial with a surprise witness. This all for a trial that should have taken half an hour.

In actuality Blizzard should just issue you a new key. If you feel strongly enough about this, you wil probably need to file a legal suit. You might want to contact the EFF as they might be interested because of some of the ramifications of a lawsuit over a EULA.

I doubt Blizzard would want to let this go to court as either judgement would be bad- ie either Blizzard violated thier own terms or the EULA is null and void.

If you cannot or will not see this as a Constitutional issue, then there is nothing further to discuss.

Not quite as bad as going from RH to Debian but close.

Mandrake is more like Red Hat. But there is no longer full binary compatibility with RH.

When Windows crashes what do you do? Most people reinstall.

Short of a hardware failure (And I have had one hard drive start to fail and still was able to backup my Linux system), Linux pretty much never crashes, and on rare circumstances where it does, you can still easily fix it. Even if you are not familiar with the internals of Linux, you can always take out your distro discs and do an upgrade install.

The question should really be, Why stay on Windows? All the software you mentioned is native to Linux. MS wants to take more control of your computer, hence the software subscription model, Palladium, and signed software.

Internal hardware will just work. Sure there is always something that causes problems, but except for the very latest and greatest in whatever there will be support for it in Linux. The two main pieces of harware that will be a source of problems is printers and scanners.

http://www.sane-project.org/ look there for a compatible scanner.

http://www.linuxprinting.org/ look there for printers. The short form, get an Epson or HP. Though Samsung have some inexpensive laser printers which come with Linux drivers.

    Theft is taking physical property.

Copyright infringement is copying so called "intellectual property" without permission.

Two different things. Hammurabi would understand theft. He wouldn't recognize copyright infringement. Copyright is a relatively modern invention. It is only recently that Copyright violations were criminal instead of civil matters. The majority of Copyright violation cases are still civil matter.

Copyright infringement can be considered a type of denial of compensation. It can also be considered a type of civil disobedience.

If you favor revising copyright then you need to start recognizing the difference between physical property law and copyright law.

Actually the best way to be sure that you will not have problems is check the rated amps for the 12v rail. Most modern high end systems need 18+ amps for the +12v. This is assuming two optical drives, 1-2 hard drives, a couple of PCI cards, an Athlon or P4, and a GPU of at least a Geforce4 or greater. This generally equates to a 400w+ Power Supply. Generally, if there is enough amps for the 12v then there is enough for the 5v and 3.3v. (Very few Supplies seperate the 5v and 3.3v rails.) You also have to be carefull on the el cheapo Power Supplies as they often do not supply enough amps for the 12v. It is not unheard of to see a 500w Supply deliver only 12 amps on +12v.

Most companies reimburse for something along that lines so...

For labor I charge $40 per hour, in half hour increments. I make sure that the customer is satisfied before I leave, and be up front that if I need to come back it will be another fee. This avoids being at their beck and call whenever they install some stupid spyware. Be a bit flexible though, for instance if the computer gets stop error the following day I will come back reinstall widows for free.

I carry a couple of cds, like MS service packs, OO.o, Mozilla, AVG Antivirus, ZoneAlarm, the Gimp, and others. I also carry LiveCD and USBkey drive.

On old machines I do recommend upgrading to a new machine. For instance Sub300.com has some cheap systems that will work pretty well. For most home users it is perfect. Yes, it has Linspire, but Linux is easy enough once configured that anyone can use it.
