Since when did MS become more evil than Sony? Many people here seem to be getting a PS2 because MS is evil yet we all know how much more evil Sony really is. Copy-protected CD's, RIAA, DMCA, etc. But suddenly nobody cares.
Slashdot is a weird crowd. I also remember the day when people were favorable to a RedHat acquisition by AOL/TW. Go figure.
me, I already have an XBox and I'm buying a nintendo. They're both great. I was a little disappointed with the GC graphics but the gameplay is fun so I'll buy it anyway.
me, I won't buy the S, I love the original XBox Controller. You have ten games? Currently I have DOA3, Fuzion Frenzy, Halo and Project Gotham Racing. What do you have and what do you recommend? Yeah I know this may be a little bit off topic, but we're talking consoles here.
This is the console with the best graphics yet, it's far from dead. Online gaming will be available soon and since the XBox has cut it's prices, more and more people are buying it.
Why? Because it's convenient, it's much easier to ignore it instead of trying to find it. Look at what happened to PGP and look at Sony running wild with the DMCA yet every now and then, Slashdot treats us with articles about the Playstation, about movies, about music, etc. So no don't come and tell me that you care, your actions prove otherwise.
Mandrake 8.2 was loaded onto a server and placed into the DMZ of Sec33.com's network. Without a firewall Mandrake sat and waited while an invitation to hack this system was broadcast around the globe.
1 week has passed, the base install of Mandrake 8.2 is rock solid. Without any protection from a firewall or packet filtering device the OS has seriously stood up and taken a beating. This latest version of the Mandrake flavor has received well over several thousand individual attacks and hasn't needed so much as a simple killing of a process or reboot.
If you haven't taken a look at what we have going here. It is a must.
The project has been named 'Simple Simon', and is available at www.sec33.com/page.php?page=simon.html. Check it out. Mandrake 8.2 is definately a winner.
Yes, if you're generous you can help people out and give them stuff for free but you shouldn't do it and expect something in return. I believe that this was mentioned in the Bible.
Yes it's unfair but that's how it is. Ask the ones who dedicate there life to helping people, very rarely do they receive something in return from the people they help and they even receive less recognition than most people.
Sorry but I don't identify with MS and I identify even less with the Open Source movement. You have MS trying to use every illegal trick to destroy competition and you got the Open Source movement who'll make laws preventing the use of proprietary software. Sorry, but I just realised that both of them are a dictatorship and they're no good for me.
did you people read the article? It's an AS/400 not Windows. How can you blame the admin? It's not as if he's the one who decides to pay for the maintenance contract or not.
hmmm, you don't seem to get it. Usually government employees don't have much to do, yet they're paid anyways. So no, they won't be loosing much more money than what they're already loosing.
Oh, am I the first to tell you that the government wastes its money? How naïve you are:)
Between MS donating a few million dollars to eventually make a profit and introducing a bill to outlaw proprietary software, the later is so much more fair.
If I could buy Nintendo I would, but I can't afford it, so instead I'll sell myself to MS for $25 billion. Unless someone else have an interesting offer?
hehe good, this is exactly what I wanted to say. I just couldn't believe that a corporation who makes as much money as the RIAA takes tax-payers money.
They sure have the right to steal our money but we should never ever listen to music for free. From now on, if they want me to listen to music, they better pay me.
the CIA want to keep there jobs and they want more funds so they come up with warning after warning after warning. How come the US has so many enemies all of a sudden?
You guys have some of the most evil people and you have some of the nicest people on earth. Too bad to see your country being ruined by those, how shall I call them, Taliban clones?
If you can't talk about technology without mentioning Bill Gates then there must be a big problem. Seems to me like he owns Slashdotters daily. For some reason they all talk about him. Funny to see Bill talked about more than God and more than all the politicians combined.
so true, at first I liked KDE better but then when I tried Ximian's GNOME well I wouldn't go back to KDE. GNOME still have some usability problems but they're much less apparent than in KDE and the whole desktop is much more beautiful.

I just got Oddworld's Munchs Oddyssey and it's pretty good to. It sure is better than all the Mario's I played.
Halo is good but I just have a hard time playing FPS games on a console.
My next buy will probably be Silent Hill 2 and then maybe Amped or THPS3

Admit it, the Jornada wasn't too sexy looking to begin with so that's why they will be stopping it's production in favor of the sleek looking Ipaq

Well, apparently we found a company that's more Evil than MS/Sun/AOL combined :)
Unfortunately, I don't believe that it's up to the court to decide. I think, consumers, should boycott Nike products.

Well how can you blame the idiot? He probably got asked to do a job that he's not qualified to do, because his employer wanted to save a few $.
That's what happens when they try to get a jack of all trades, master of none.
What did you expect? People got used of getting IT stuff for free so as soon as you ask them to pay for some new hardware or software, they refuse.
one more reason to promote anarchism :)
Between MS donating a few million dollars to eventually make a profit and introducing a bill to outlaw proprietary software, the later is so much more fair.
Once again free software promotes freedom.

there's a DOA3 booster disc that's coming out in the Official XBox magasine. There's nothing stopping them from adding Halo mods.

it's really simple, for the same reasons that people hate MS.
