I don't even look at single-player games now. Playing against incredibly repetitive and predictable bots isn't any fun. Give me an unpredictable human (to play with or against), and that's where the fun is.
Never, and I say NEVER let a bunch of software engineers try to design a hardware chip. I've worked with software written by a hardware company, and I can say the same thing from my side of the fence...never let a bunch of hardware guys write software!
I suppose if we can all agree to stay out of the other guy's yard, we can get along. You do hardware, I'll do software.:)
Back in my Transmeta days, I set up a demo doing exactly this...one of our CPUs playing movies without a heatsink, head-to-head with a comparable Intel and it's (hot) heatsink. It lasted all day, and only got slightly warm. Still, I always expected to get burned every time I stuck my finger on the die top for the reporters. Poor, poor Transmeta.:)
Actually, at the local HS where I live, you do need a cell phone.
My wife called the school to pass a message on to our daughter that she needed to be excused for a doctor's appointment. The school told us they can't do that, and "why don't you call her cell phone?"
So you're right...assuming the school doesn't have it's head up it's ass. In my experience, most of them do.
I found that using bcm43xx, my card wouldn't work (I forget if it would associate or not) until I manually set the SSID, WEP, etc. I've seen on some discussion boards information about putting these commands into bootmisc.sh or what have you, so it seems to be a known, ongoing thing.
I very recently (last week) tried the native bcm43xx drivers as an alternative to my current ndiswrapper setup. For the record, this is with a Motorola WPCI810G PCI Adapter using the BC4306.
It was a bigger pain to set up than ndiswrapper was, and once it was running would only go up to 11Mbit (my ndiswrapper setup could use the full 54Mbit). I stayed with ndiswrapper.
So, personally, unless your goal is an untainted kernel I'd wait until the bcm43xx driver is more mature. You can always pitch in development effort, tho...:)
