I admit I did not read all of the replys in this thread, but since this is a hot button topic for me I felt the need to point out a couple of things.

First off Norton software has a really bad track record with me because when Win95 launched Microsoft gave Symantic enough hooks in the code to make a partnership worthwhile. Things have changed between the two companys since then. Symantic has been embraced and extended by Microsoft and is pretty desperate right now. I saw copys of Systemworks for free via rebate at Fries.

Also I can attest that Symantic software aimed at joe six-pack user is absolute crap. I have seen more systems compromised by this bloatware than I have ever seen helped.

On the ad blocking issue: Banner ads are fine. Any other bullshit flash or those really annoying three inch box ads get blocked and I sleep comfortable at night because I am a /. subscriber.

I am a very cautious driver and here is a reason why: I am sitting next to this impatient dude with a car full of people blaring the radio loud and obviously impatient sitting next to me in the front row in a double left turn lane. The speed limit for the cross traffic is 35. The light turns green. I wait to look off the possible approaches while Mr. Impatient hit the gas rather than look around. Guess what? MI did not see the red light runner that clipped the front bumper off of his car because somebody thought they could make the yellow-red.

My spin is that if you look at the article you will notice that it changes the light immedietly.

Having witnessed such a light change in person I noted it also cuts the yellow down to half a second.

Well. I am here to tell you the real truth.

    FU. You Apple elegance lovers.

I was cynical from the start and was not dissapointed loading this buggy DRM filled chunk of code from Apple trying to run a secure service on my creaky win2k box.

Apple insists that you update to the latest Quicktime build. Ok I don't have a problem updating the latest build of spyware. I do this and discover that not only does Itunes have a poor security policy but it actually changes your policy behind your back like enabling shares to the fullest extent you have ever allowed. After a security audit I uninstalled the software and am just waiting for the security alerts to roll in. Apple has never had much of a friend in Microsoft. This axiom is very evident in this software. I trust Apple OK, but trusting Microsoft to treat Apple fairly is a big Issue. Don't be surprised if you see major hacks within I-tunes within the next ten days or so.

I found I-tunes to be a creaky tower built on a creaky platform, and I predict no good will come of it.

When will you at least show the class Grey Davis showed in his concession speech.

This is happening bigtime all over the face of American culture. IMHO the watershed moment was when Disney dumped its 2-d animation unit. How shallow is that? and yet at the same time California Adventure has a mock "Disney animators" studio in which a few animators are used as robots to interact with an Eddie Murphy voiced cartoon with the express intent of getting you to buy art in the shop that you are dumped in at the end of the ride. Just like the recently PC nerfed Pirates ride.
