Default is 1second, change it to 0 or "as it's loading" (something like that, I use the spanish version). Opera is ridiculously fast. I also love the mouse gestures, and there's probably some Adblock equivalent but it seems unethical(and a little petty) to block ads, I find that blocking pop ups is enough.
I think the Cartels clearly cross a line when they involve the social element. Killing entire families, and keeping the populace in fear is just not cool. They are now more like a private military than what a cartel used to be.
So yeah, since those days of the Robin Hood style drug dealer in Mexico are gone forever, I guess I prefer the government to dismantle them. I'm just not sure it's possible, the Mexican Government is clearly outmatched.
Do you really think that a bus-line should be immune if they give a ride to a terrorist with a bomb in his back-pack on his way to blow up a kindergarten?
What happened to the airline that carried the terrorists that crashed into the towers on 9-11?
I don't know, everything I've read suggests that the average Mexicans don't like the drug cartels. Who would?
Hi, I'm sorry to say you need to read better sources. It's more complicated than that.
The less popular cartels are the ones that have lately been kidnapping people, extorting businesses and generally driving away tourism and killing entire families because one of the sons broke a deal with them or some stupid thing. Usually the Zetas, who have a lot of firepower, but it also includes some other cartels.
However, up until this past year, and still today, many mexican people admire drug dealers, and there is a symbiosis between drug cartels and the government. I remember conversations with friends since I was a kid, friends who wanted to become a narco for all the money and power it brings.
The narcos of the 80's used to increase a town's status - they gave money to the people, built roads, and other things.
It's complicated, but not absolutely everyone dislikes the narcos, they do have some support from the population.
I think if the Zetas continue their extremely bloody campaign, however, this popular support will erode very quickly.
There is so much to understand in this war, and even living here and reading every day about it leaves many questions.
I personally think this "War" will end when the president Calderón leaves in 2012. I'm not even sure why he started it, many believe he has ties to a rival cartel, although it might be just that he's really a hard core conservative. I really doubt it tho, to get so high in Mexico, you have to be corrupt at some level.
On a unrelated note: Has someone already managed to rip the individual tracks off the Guitar Hero / Rock Band games? I assume they're not just simply there as.wav files on the CD:-)
Well, not directly from the disc.
I just used an audio-in recorder directly from the TV. I've been using Rock Band to figure out some guitar solos. It has a practice mode where you can slow a song enough to figure it out note for note. It's a pretty awesome tool for a guitar player, but I imagine drums are even easier with the trainer.
There are audio tools such as Audacity and amazing slow downer which can slow down a song enough for you to figure it out, but the huge Rock Band advantage is that you can listen to ONLY the guitar track, and it doesn't alter the pitch, only the tempo. Audacity and ASD muddle up the sound when you slow it down.
So yeah, Rock Band can definitely be a good tool to learn some guitar solos by ear.
True, if anyone's done a lot of work burning out people on the genre, it's Activision and their horrible treatment of the Guitar Hero Franchise. I think this year alone there were like 20 Guitar Hero games announced (not kidding, including portable consoles and PC).
Rock Band has been a little more controlled, with one release per year (Rock Band: Beatles is this year's offering I think), but they're still being burned by the Guitar Hero flood of mediocre titles.
Little things like when you want to unplug something or close a file and XP only says "File is in use", 7 lets you know which program is using it, file previews are neat, the taskbar is much much improved (being able to pin and unpin your programs, managing the tray and which icons show up, the calendar, etc), the Control Panel makes some sense and you can search inside it... Being able to customize the start button is cool too. Multiple monitor managing is neat also, alt+tabbing is nicer and for instance if you're watching a video on a monitor it shows the video playing in the at+tabbing.
Search is another improved side of Windows 7, specially file and within-file searching. Indexing seems much more reliable now.
Little touches like the background rotation, volume channels and individual management for each app (ie you can set an app to have a louder volume than another) and all that, it just really helps provide a much better experience than XP. Compatability mode has worked perfectly for me (only LeapFTP has needed it enabled, really, all my XP apps work, OpenOffice.org works too, no hassles or workarounds.).
The Windows Media Center integration is quite neat (and Windows Media Player is actually tolerable now!), setting it to work with my Xbox was flawless.
Add in the networking (so much easier and has cool little stuff like your network map) and a very tolerable UAC and Windows update management, and there's just no reason to stick with XP. For me at least.
Honestly I've never written anything positive about a previous windows OS but Windows 7 has me quite convinced. It's almost a little scary.
i'm waiting for a replacement to PlanetSide. Something that involves... skill, teamwork, strategy, tactics, etc.
Team Fortress 2 is the closest thing to that, if you can find a good server (not the average pubbie ones). Try the http://stansloungetf2.com/ TF2 ones!
Absolutely, I'm gonna play that game. I hated Vista, skipped it after trying it for a week, and now that I've tried Windows 7 I'm convinced of moving away from XP.
Everything works (very few apps need to enable "compatability mode"), and it's generally more useable and, well, just pretty, than XP. Plus, 64-bit, and other neat stuff in the UI.
I'm sure W7 is gonna be a big thing, it's been years(decades? Win95) since I've actually been looking forward to a Microsoft new OS.
Working out only on your days off is not only unhealthy and risky, it's counterproductive.
Your system will be placidly chugging along during the week, and then it receives a shock in the weekends that will send it into "fat protection" mode. You can't just work out 3 hours in your day off and expect it to pay off the same as 3 hours spread over the week.
Decreasing caloric intake is also risky without a proper nutritionists' advice - you can decrease too much and it's also counterproductive.
I always wondered why american men seemed to be so against condoms but you've just provided the most likely answer!
I'm personally un-cut and while there's a very slight reduction in sensitivity, even using the thickest condoms is rather great and I have no problems, uh, performing. It's a shame cut guys are less sensitive. Since I shower daily I have absolutely no hygiene problems either, haven't had any ever.
I wonder if circumcision also has any bearings on older age erectile disfunction?
Richard Feynman has a wonderful story about how he figured out his wife's illness on his own, going against the prescriptions of the doctors who were treating her.
Truth is, doctors are usually so rushed most of the time, to see as many patients as possible, that they don't really pay attention anymore.
I'll have to disagree with you there. In my opinion the final half of the season was easily some of the best Whedon I've ever seen. The first half was crap, but it was worth it to get to the second half.
It might have been, but Firefly was still much better!
This is true, I have 30 tabs open in my Opera and they are all immediately responsive, including the ones with video. My only problem is that sometimes I load a couple of videos and I forget which tab is playing them so I spend a few seconds trying to shut down 3 video streams or something.
An example of beautiful graphics complementing a game is Team Fortress 2, graphics that a few years ago wouldn't have been possible, together with a very fun and solid multiplayer experience.
I blame it all on Gladiator. That's where it first started, I think, the "Cameraman is drunk as hell" style of "action", where you don't know what the fuck is going on.
It ruined a bunch of movies, from Batman Begins to Transformers, because you can tell there's something "cool" going on but who knows what it is.
Say all you want about Armaggedon, but visually it was a good movie with clear action paths.
If your dad's old machine runs windows XP, it can most likely run Windows 7. Download the windows 7 update advisor thingy and find out.

What price rate are you considering? I'm in Mexico and for 40 dollars I get 2mbps (200k effective download, 60k upload)

... 500 gigabytes, instead of 465 or so.
That's what pisses me off, why sell a 1 terabyte drive and then when I install it it has almost 100gigabytes missing?
I don't care how you count disk space, as long as what's in the box is consistent with what my file explorer says.

This is clearly highly optimized for a certain OS, it doesn't work on windows 7. Probably XP?
The UI is the biggest reason for me, yeah.

That's what made it even more popular... The strippers and booth babes.
Doesn't make much difference, they pay cents per domain. Even selling just one domain at 3,000 pays for a crapload of more domains.

Who are these 5,013 douchebags still buying Hummers? =P
You ARE old, sorry guy =)
