Are you living in the 80's? Even Mexico has launched a few satellites in the past decades, and we're no technological superpower. Venezuela did too. I think at this point, Cuba and Zimbabwe might be the only countries that can't do this.
Well, you just had to go ahead and be "that guy", didn't you.
I happen to play guitar too, I also began playing because the game inspired me. After 2 years of solid practice, I wouldn't pretend I can play Hendrix or Santana. So by your own admission, I'd have to spend 10 years practicing AND have the talent to play the same songs.
The one thing I hate about these games is how there's always one of you... The "WHY DONTCHA PLAY A REALZ INSTRUMANTS" guy.
Let the people have their fun and don't make them feel guilty, and please don't generalize. If they feel inspired to play a real guitar, they will, regardless of the game or not. My 10 year old niece apparently wants to take drumming lessons because she played Rock Band and liked it. My friends just like playing and I doubt they'll end up buying a real instrument because they barely have time to play songs as entertainment, so everyone's mileage is different, isn't it?
I can assure you I wouldn't have been moved to buy a real instrument just by a post on the internet. On the other hand, the game is pushing a lot of people to do it...
Absolutely, it still stands today! Some awesome, physically and genetically superior warriors like Fedor Emelianenko might be able to do it, and they inspire everyone else to do the same.
Most martial arts teachers do this, most sports coaches, every boxing and muay thai instructor...
Yes! Thank you! It's also great for reducing the use of fans, and I suppose it even uses less electricity?
I have a Q6600,and I honestly never use the 4 chips at once, specially not in regular work... Even when playing, I don't think most games use more than 1 or 2 cores, right?
The video card on the other hand... noisy and overheats a lot when playing 3d games...
I agree with your whole post. Specially the "realism" thing.
That's one of the worst complains that kinda show how out of touch with "fun" some people are. How can you expect such a cartoony game to be "realistic"? I mean, there's some game logic, but to say it's a bad game because it's not like Call of Duty (where it's so realistic you spawn immediately after you die), well, that's just wrong. They're way too different.
Disclaimer: Call of Duty is a perfectly fine multiplayer game, just using it as an example and not a diss on it.
I really hope your opinion regarding Team Fortress 2 is not widespread, or perhaps you were trolling, because while I've been around since the early Wolfenstein days, Team Fortress 2 is light years ahead of TFC, so much better than the original mod.
If you seriously can't have fun with TF2 because "IT DOESNT HAV GRANADES", I am so sorry for you.
Oh, and there are various user made maps that remake the old TFC versions, like Rock2. You know what? They are so ridiculously unbalanced and, well, plain bad, that they'll tarnish your memories of the old days.
The new maps are so much better. Badwater is one of the most fun maps in any game, ever.
For me TF2 is the best multiplayer game of the decade (I don't count WoW because it's not a game it's digital crack and it costs monthly).
I really recommend if you haven't tried TF2, go for it. It's like 9 bucks now.
If I had to choose between the two, which apparently I would (not that my decision makes ANY difference whatsoever), I'd have to go with the dude from Cisco. He at least has his roots, however good they may be, in a business and not a "cushy government job."
And this is why, thankfully, you're not the one selecting the person for the position. For starters, it's not a "dude", it's a woman. She's also got a bit of a reputation for being a regular "Good Ol American Executive" at Cisco, meaning: Don't shake the status quo too much, do not innovate so much, don't take risks, get a lot of money, move on to your next enterprise/target. Not exactly a visionary.
The guy from the government job I don't really know, but the "dude from Cisco" wouldn't be a very good choice.
The Google Content Network will remain viable and profitable for businesses as long as Google remains on the ball with context advertising.
As a customer, I've bought many a thing that I wasn't actively searching for, but the ad was there at the right time in the right webpage. Recently, some vitamins and supplements while reading about the benefits of fish oils, for instance. Another was a set of strings while reading an interview with Eric Clapton, I just happened to think "Yeah I think I needed to buy strings for my guitar..."
But if you're reading an online jazz magazine like I was recently, and the ads are so out of context you roll your eyes, then something has failed. (One was for coaxial cables or something, and another for a guide to make cocktails... Why would they even be together? specially in a music site)
I agree about needing to weed out the bottom feeders, but I remember reading that Google still makes a pretty penny out of them, so I doubt they'll ban them. Like all those domain parkers who pretend they are advertising what you were looking for. You know which ones, "The best resource site for "
In conclusion, I half agree with your comment, but the Google Content Network (and good targeted advertising) ain't going anywhere.
One of these days, any international travel might risk you being apprehended by on the basis that something you posted online is illegal in that country and you have been found guilty in absentia!
This has already happened a few times, hasn't it? I seem to remember a case where an internet gambling mogul was arrested vacationing in the USA even if all his stuff was in England (servers, etc).
Yeah, I tried second life. For about 5 minutes. I just had to leave after I got ambushed by a herd of flying cocks screaming and slowing my system down to a crawl.
Oh, I guess I didn't understand your comment then, sorry =)

How about "Stuff that matters"? No? Maybe it will generate a good discussion?
I don't see the point of criticizing in an obvious way (ie "I CAN FIND THIS IN A BOOK") without contributing something to our general knowledge =)

recorded music, from now on, is nothing more than advertising material
This is the saddest thing I've read on Slashdot, ever.
Well, you know, you can try to change your government, after all you pay for it.

I hope you read the article because it discusses exactly what you're saying!
Yeah, he was pretty buff when he was young! If he'd gone into bodybuilding as a career I'm sure he'd have done well too.
We blindly followed zealots and morons into domestic and foreign policies that have ruined our nation morally and economically.
For 8 years! Good job there ; )
Really, I lost a little respect for the USA when Bush was RE-elected, and I think a large part of the world did too...
Good luck getting it to stay for long, the Wikipedia Nazis will happily erase it in a second.
Ha! I came to ask this same question.
What will they do to fix the ending?
"Mexshitco"? Really?
Let me guess... Republican?
You could wait and buy the DVD boxed version, too. No one will force you to pirate the content, you just have to wait.
Even laptop(remember, laptops are designed to be portable) owners wouldn't tilt theirs 90 degrees sideways while spinning a disc.
I've done this and got no damage to my disc. On the other hand, a 360 scratched my new game when I wasn't even moving the console slightly.
So screw you Microsoft apologists. This is their fault.
I won't even get into extended lifespans, artificially extended childhood or a whole host of other, related societal issues.
Ok, I'll bite, I'm interested in these. What do you mean? What's artificially extended childhood?

Good luck with this game.
Every bank in Mexico uses OTP authentication with a small physical device that generates a random key.
When will the US catch up with the rest of the world in terms of technology? ;)
