>>Apple is in the business of selling hardware and software. Theirs is a Business-to-Consumer model.
Not any more, ads might have the biggest profit margin, even bigger then software, so Apple will start doing ads sooner or later, that means they gonna emulate Google including user tracking.
The core player will stick with the best platform, no matter what... I imagine it is hard to derail them until some worthy competitor to "PlayStation" arises, but given the state of things (Xbox aside), this is very unlikely.
Bringing back dead projects mostly create software zombies, the ghosts of the old project might come back to scare you (IPs, bugs, patents, people..). It is always better to start again and build from ground up a better product, even if you need to reinvent the wheel here and there, but that is mostly for the better anyway.
It has been discussed before, Bing is NOT using Google's results. The algos are optimized in a similar manner often yielding very close results. MS have their own crawlers, search engine, database backends and the latest version of Bing seach is very competitive.
The store will immediately get spammed by fart apps, e-books, calendar apps and all sorts of usual crapware. To have lots of mediocre apps might actually be a problem, users might bump into series of bad apps and overall experience is made worse. This move also discourages serious developers as they would need to compete with all the gimmicky devs. Hopefully the native BB apps will have another section in the App World store just to set them apart.
A bit way north is quietly rumbling "Cascadia Subduction Zone" (similar to that one of Japan) that might produce massive quake of magnitude 9 or higher with tsunami of approximately 30 meters (100 ft), but that is more of a Canucks' problem.
Bad HTML design, K-Meleon and older Opera render the site completely unreadable (total mess) can't even line buttons well or see the text... have to launch Safari to reveal the page. This is terrible. Also the logo is degraded, too small, this is major design error. The static frames are not very good idea. iPad version on the other hand looks satisfactory, clearly, the designed runs OSX and iOS, but the community around Open Source use other browsers. Please polish.
1) 'inventors' run their own journal site
2) it is a.com website
3) the site has ads plastered all over
4) upon visiting you browser stalls and you notice huge background activity
Every asia hardware vendor smells the "AppStore" revenues, HP is getting ready WebOS for their next-gen devices (leaving MS behind). They all want to emulate Apple's business model -- the embedded software app store for added value. Even Intel is preparing their own OS to get piece of the action now, see, MS is in trouble.
Yeah and kill the whole point of HAM in the process.
Washington D.C., Canada
From a European POV.
The current Retina display is made by LG and Samsung competes with others like AUO here to be Apple's chosen supplier.
Then we reconsider using it.

They are giving away source code for the SDK samples, headers and such, not the engine itself... right?
Correction, the location database is stored naked on the PC/Mac syncing side, so the problem is affecting PCs too (any malware can take a look...).
I don't think we are going to use those old keyboard based computers in the future.
How many users buy a game console and use it for anything else then gaming or entertainment?
Good news for Google anyway, it is within the "Application Data/Apple .." folder on Windows, Chrome should access it easily.

I, for one, preping to welcome our new Godzilla overlords.
The flood gates of cheap Android tablets are just opening... Apple might experience a much harder time fighting the green little robot down the road.

Nothing comes close to C++ in terms of versatility, features, speed and overall professional appeal.
RTFA, the clever article is making exactly that point.

The tank is kevlar reinforced composite, so when the damage occurs (in an accident) it just fizzes off and doesn't explode.
