Netcraft reports on the iminent demise of Atlantis. There will be no more Atlantis in three years. Ur is poised to overtake Atlantis on the desktop and archeologists will soon have to focus on Babylon. Open-dig and Atlantis will be alll but forgotten.
I have enough to feed all of China... You'd think those Chinese spammers would wan't to keep all the spam to feed their families...
It reminds me of a Spaulding Grey line..."Once I was in Russia, and before I went on stage, I was told the audience might throw tomatos at me... I got up and mentioned the fact that I was flattered they would waste such precious items on me..."(or something like that)...
Blah XSan just sounds like blah blah blah. Like I can mount blah blah at blah, another at blah/blah, and make it behavie like it all one system. To do it, it would just require renaming blah, and then blah blah the blah blah to use the new blah. Is XSan blah blah or is it basically a GUI to blah blah ?
in 9 months is pretty respectable. You can argue the veracity of just how fast 1.25Ghz was in comparison to the X86 ad nauseum, but if you were a mac user and 1.25Ghz was very fast for you work, 1.5Ghz is very, very fast.
It is rather sensless to argue 'orders-of-magnitude' since there is a quantifiable improvement. This is not a 1.25Ghz P4 bumped to 1.5Ghz.
I'm sure Dell fans would be glad to hear the 2.8Ghz 9100 was bumped to 3.2Ghz in 9 months...
One of my favorite 'smart playlist' criteria is one I call 'Have you heard this lately?'
I have it compile all songs that have not been played in the past month or two weeks into a playlist that is ever-changing and filled with great things that sound fresh and new. I also remove a genre or two (Classical and Jazz for example) so that it is more upbeat.
Mac OS X users can extoll the virtues of a shortcut-launcher such as LaunchBar...
Talk about a productivity enhancer... it is somewhere in between the best parts of a CLI -- direct initiation of commands/ability to drag files to applications -- and a GUI -- access to various applications and their individual interfaces...
Is there similar software available for Linux and Windows? What about comparable options?
I don't mean to be overly-incendiary. Like I said, I believe in 'belief'... I just don't believe in forcing beliefs on others. I think religion and 'spirituality' are the providence of one's own domain. One person's morality isn't everyone's, and the drive to re-frame the church-state divide is, in my opinion, antithetical to the designs of this great country.
Go bugger off and see "The Passion of The Crap" again... I LOVE reasonably religious folks, but American Fundamentalist Christians are worse than Islamic radicals, if for no other reason than they are INSIDE our country, taking advantage of our freedoms only to use them against ourselves by rolling back our fair and even-handed laws... in pursuit of their narrow-minded 'Moral-hypocrisy' agenda...
Newsflash for all Fundamentalist Right-Wingers..."America was founded by Deists not Christians... That christian Bible-crap all happened in the forties and fifties. I'm all for believing in god, but don't shake your poo-stick-religous-dogma at me..."
BIG SHOUT OUT TO ALL FREE THINKING RELIGIOUS BELIEVERS -- KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK -- HELP THE NEEDY -- STOP WORRYING ABOUT ABORTION, HOMOSEXUALS, DRUGS, VIDEOGAMES, ROCK AND ROLL, SEX AND AMERICA's 'FICTITIOUS MORAL-DECLINE'...
That Macs are not easier to set-up than other computers? I never thought it was the end-all-be-all selling point, but it is definitely more honest and realistic than the whole 'Fastest Computer in the Universe" thing...
I can give a Credit Card for the down-- seeing as my CC Co. allows returns -- I got a big date this weekend and I'd like to 'impress' -- sure the car does not "meet my needs and I don't want to be forced to keep it" -- but it is so schweet... and I'm a lazy bastard who can't be bothered to go down to the Ferrari dealership and test drive the thing to realize it is not the right car for me...
I thought it was those underpants gnomes all this time...
and the announcement that Longhorn will feature a heavily translucent interface -- Aero Glass?
My first thought was porn on an airplane...
800 number scams
Seems you need to agree beforehand to a billing arrangement or provide a CC # before you begin recieving 'services'.
From what I gather there has been a great deal of "exploiting backdoors" going on there...
I think we'll have to start an inter-species breeding program in order to make it through the next decade...

Now if only Duke Nukem Forever would drop...

"Yes, Micheal..."

Wow, post an anti-fundamentalist screed in a different thread, and watch a +3 insightful post in a different topic drop to a -1 offtopic/flamebait...

I wonder if jacking into a dead iPod would be deemed illegal in the UK?
