  1. Re:what? on Senators Propose Bill Prohibiting Phone Calls On Planes · · Score: 1

    I went out to a restaurant with my family {all 22 of them} the Sunday after thanksgiving we asked the waitress if she could lower the shades as the sun had peaked up over the trees and for those directly facing the great big windows covering the front of the restaurant it was fairly blinding and uncomfortable.

    A women at another table made a scene to get the waitress to leave the shades up... ALL THE WAY UP...

    Afterwards I let her know that I don't usually eat at restaurants, go to malls, movie theaters, or any other place with crowds because of all the rude and inconsiderate people that go to those places, like her. I think the quiet guy sitting with her that was hanging his head in shame was the Pastor at the church up the road a few blocks.

    Last time I went to the theater I spent $40 for a movie that I didn't get to hear because of the kids playing around in the first couple rows.

    Is it even possible for new people to come along and learn all of this?

    Yes, they can, will, and have. I'm also sure there was someone asking the same question a decade, two decades, a century ago. We have great capacity for learning and adapting. Almost all of the successful people I work with are constantly going back to school, are brushing up on subjects with a new book, or attending training seminars even the ones close to retirement. {random photography classes are fairly common too especially if they just bought an expensive and nifty camera}

    When we interview people under 30 they are saying stuff like "I do Apple IOS programming and nothing else".

    The question isn't what they have done, it's how willing are they to learn and how hard will they work at it. If it's still the same answer "I do Apple IOS programming and nothing else" expect to see them behind the counter at the apple genius bar or at the drive through asking "Would you like fries with that?".

    Anyway they would need to adapt since they have never foraged for food, been made to face weather, or fought off predators and would probably need to be looked after until they did adapt. Not completely uncomplicated but not unsurmountable either.
