    They really are all distinct. But i still am wondering why my dog, rabbit, fish, bird need a own facebook account. It seems that you need more neighbours to level up in farmville.

    But if you are wondering, 3 out of 5 farmville players are (real) female. Maybe something interesting for /.players.

    Some googling and i beg to differ:

    So that's pretty conclusive, we have a FUSE filesystem (which also claims to not be optimised) which can pretty much match an in-kernel filesystem.

    So fuse is not the bottleneck.

    I do not see how fuse makes it unstable. Fuse by design keeps unstable code out of the kernel.

    Licensing is a problem.

    But if people need the feature of ZFS, it could be supported in its current incarnation. Just not as default FS since it current speed is not up to other FS and .Speed and stablity Should be a main issue in a dedicated NAS.

    As the author points out, an elegant one-liner coupled with a comment from a few revisions ago makes for a good headache.

    A oneline that had multiple revision should be completely rewritten, because if you manage to get multiple changes in one line it surely is a mess... somwhere.

    They do not get gigabit speeds WAN to LAN if they have to do any type of processing.

    Exact, the problem is that sony does not allow any kind of plugins. They closed their software so much that even thirth party developers cannot devolop things like high contrast mods. The only reason for this can be anti-cheat protection and (to sony) anti copyright protection.

    If your meat comes from sheep that have eaten on a hill-side then your point is valid. If your meat is bought form a super market where it is the lowest price then your argument is valid, but your life-style not.

    Besides that, in the article they use a artificial "eco footprint" that has little real meaning, it is not about farm-land. If you have a acre of land you cannot use it to create a suv from it. You can only use it to compensate for the co2 created by the suv.

    My dog does not get half a kilo of meat every day. And the meat in dogfood is almost worst meat, that is left over from all other meatprocesing. You can easy say that that number is inflated.

    The eco foodprint she is talking about is not the amount of ground that is required to create fuel for the car, creating biofuel is inefficient compared to current free-oil-out of ground.

    The gist of the story is true, meat is ecologically expensive, but the number she choose is like comparing apples with oranges. We should covert all to atomic energy, that has a clean eco footprint...

    The skype plugin is buggy and causes crashes and weird behviour on sites. Ik kan be disabled by normal pluging behaviour however.

    skype funcions ok without this plugin.

    Will it be the next plugin to be blocked?

    Whenever you now know perfectly well somebody does something wrong, even if you know his identity, there is not much you can do if that person is at the other side of the globe. Yes you can call police, but they will seldom do something.

    It is the same thing as asking someones identity everywhere, but that does nog help finding out the intentions of a person.

    No, they never did that. They weasel out of such a statement. They just point out how much the legislation allows them. If they made such a statement the damange could be substantiated and would be more realistic ( like 6 dollar per number instead of a value thousends times higher)

    There are certinaly was to may WGA STFU. Your system will not be "Genuine" after that, and updates will fail, but that is nothing a good firewall cannot fix. (Keep that PC of the internet after you quit updating)

    People from other countries, (other than the native people) might have something to do with it. Aliens are an other race and react different to medications. meds that are effectieve to alien races and and the mysterious race called "women" are more difficult to create.

    I am about to get a laptop on the job to replace my previous desktop. I am considering to create a second partion on it that is completely separte from work partition. So i can get a clean work pc, and an overloaded home partiontion with games on it that do not affect the work software ever!

    As it happens Trecrypt has an option to create a separte pationtion that hides the first partition. having truecrypt also automatically creates full disk encryption: if i ever get the laptop stolen i only have to give a statement about the hardware, not about the data of clients that might be on it.

    You are wrong. Volkswagen (and others) is already implementing start/stop technology in it's bluemotion diesels. The honda civic is not different. It keeps the engine running unless you stop completely. The toyota prius however can drive at low speeds 100% electric. The insight will only use it electric system to give the unrated combustion engine a kick in the back when accelerating.
