    Why not take the majority of the spacecraft's mass from an object already outside of Earth's atmosphere? Send this asteroid-tractor into space with a big empty cargo (er, ballast?) hold, and pick up a bunch of moon (or maybe chunks of some other asteroid) once it's well beyond Earth's gravity?

    let's look at those values...

    A) Mineral Mining --> Excellent. So long as we don't need to get the mined product back to Earth, or anywhere else other than the moon's surface.

    B) Space Observation --> Cool idea - an Earth-orbiting telescope. Like the Hubble. Except stuck to the moon.

    C) Space (Moon) Station --> 4 words: "Are we there yet?" And 4 more words: "Damn. There's no Cinnabon."

    D) Other --> ??profit??

    You should not have to modify a reasonably modern diesel engine to run biodiesel. Volkswagon's TDI engine can run straight biodiesel (or a blend of bio and petro, which is MUCH more commonly available) straight from the factory. If they put that engine in a Cabrio from the mid to late 90s, it should burn biodiesel just fine with no mods. The hard part is finding the reasonably-priced VW TDI...

    Why the delay? Broadcast it, encode it, and make it available. I should be able to see the 6p broadcast news online at 7p. If I wanted to wait until 10p, I'd watch the 10p broadcast news...
