Actually, just saw this on the daily show last night. It was pretty amusing and Jon Stewart mentioned that it looked like it was constipated when someone scratched it's head. I'd have to agree.
I'm not sure I want a pet that looks like it's going to pinch a loaf every time I pet it.
(excuse my poor moderation score, hopefully this gets through!)
I have a 30g IBM Desktar ATA/100 7200 RPM drive as well. Not sure about the model number, but the other day I booted up my computer and heard a strange crackling noise. I popped open the case to find out that the controller board on the drive had literally *started on fire*. I immediately shut down the system and blew out the fire, but the drive was totally shot. Thankfully no other damage was done to any of my other system peripherals.
I sent the drive back to IBM and just recently got a replacement (same drive). I'm hoping that this doesn't become a recurring problem. Chances are it wasn't the PS, it's a 300w sparkle that comes standard in the Enlight 7237/3 case.
Best of luck to those with Deskstar drives as well... I might be going Seagate SCSI soon if this keeps coming back to haunt me!
The only problem with finger-print recognition that I've seen so far is that if the pads of your fingers are scuffed or damaged you'll get an incorrect read. Could you imagine being an executive trying to get to his files after a weekend of fishing/boating/gardening or whatever, just to find out your thumb pad had been scratched up a bit? Whups.
I'm not positive, but I think they only take a read from one finger too... So you couldn't store say 3-4 prints just incase one finger gets scratched up.
Not sure if anyone noticed, but over at Lum the Mad (www.lumthemad.net) they mention this as well. Exodus is Anarchy Online's hosting service, a game which has been taking a header as of late due to some incredibly uneducated patching (and poor CS, and poor programming, and general shitheadedness).
Exactly. Can you blame them for saying "Don't slander us or we'll tell."? I'd still like to see the EULA myself in person, I get the feeling that theres a bit more to it.
Stop bitching and don't use it then. Nobody is forcing you to use such a horribly proprietary extensions based web creation utility. Use HTML or XML, I don't think they've put any EULA's on those just yet. Or hell, use GoLive or even Netscape Composer. Just don't act so surprised that their legal department slipped this by.
I'd have to agree. Not to try to sound off-topic, but I feel the same exact way about Gauntlet. I played that for hours and hours on my NES, time that could have been better spent doing something like, oh, sleeping.
Recently it came out for the Dreamcast, N64, and stand-up arcade, so I went out and bought it. Even though the game was semi well done it just reminds you of the mindless amounts of time you spent playing the original. It's nice to think back and say to your friends "Yellow Wizard is about to die!", but some things are best left alone.
It's almost hard to believe that a chip would hit 10x the heat output within a second... My 1.2ghz Tbird runs at around 35-40 celcius on average with a standard heatsink and fan.
To see that those 2 intel chips actually SURVIVED was amazing... And that the P4-2ghz didn't even lock up was impressive. I'm glad to see that Intel DOES care about innovation as opposed to the clock race.
Let's hope that this will drum up some more interesting competition for the chipset field!
Intel, wake up... Someone's knocking on your door.

LOL, I don't think you understand... Intel may have better ass-kissing skills, but they're at the low end of the dock right now. Pound for pound their processors can't kick out the power.
Also, AMD has been around for just as long. Never seen an AMD 386/20, I take it? Or AMD imbedded processors and other chipsets? I think they have the guile to weather the storm.
This is great! I remember trying to use FBSD 4.3 ( I think that was it ). The installer wasn't exactly the most friendly or intuitive... I definately could have used a manual like this then.
I think that the most intimidating part of Linux/*BSD has to be the install itself. Unless you're used to DOS or other shell based OS's it can get a little confusing for the average user. Text == Intimidating. Everyone loves the look of X ( Don't lie to yourselves! ), and once they can get past the installer process I think most people loosen up to the concept. Oooo, pretty windows! This wasn't so hard after all!
Just because you can't type doesn'mt mean you're unable to operate a computer... Unless your arms have been completely severed off, Monty Python style.
But seriously... If you worked in the IS field and you ended up with CTS, thus requiring a surgery, and your physician said "If you ever type again you're going to be in the same situation." then it's time to find some good dictation software.
Could you imagine trying to dictate C/C++ or Perl though? lol. "No no no, I said left open bracket, no! NO! LEFT OPEN BRACKET! BACKSPACE BACKSPACE! LEFT OPEN BRACKET!"
Of course he's still in jail, Jon. He broke a "law", and he's in the hands of the US Government now. Do you think they just let people out after one day? They have so many loops to jump through that it's ridiculous.

Are you kidding? This community can't stop complaining about what linux distro is "best" and you expect them to coincide on an *important* issue?

Wow, thanks for the link.. Now I can actually see the things, lol. I have to admit they don't appear to be incredibly impressive though.
Maybe that's the point? They do come in at under 2 C-bills.
-Insert obligatory phallic joke here-
Understandable... I was just amused that this "important news update" came in and I was utterly unable to view the new-fangled colored cases.
LOL.
Impressive words coming from someone when 13.3~% of their dictionary revolves around swearing.
It just goes to show that idiocy never grows old... Only more rampant.
Holy shitballs, slashdotted in less than a minute.

I'd have to agree, I couldn't have said it any better myself... When the first tower fell I almost broke into tears.

*chuckle*
What the hell are you talking about?
Edit: The version I tried was 3.3, my bad ;)

Great work, keep it up guys.
Repetitive motion disorder? Does that mean I have to stop masturbating? I'd better be careful.

If you're into the Massively Multiplayer Online RPG scene, another great site that I suggest you check out is http://www.lumthemad.net
/.'ers who love pop culture, Jon? You're pretty bold to generalize.
Quite the interesting perspective from there, it's too bad that Lum sold out (not for a bagel), though.
As for us
Of course he's still in jail, Jon. He broke a "law", and he's in the hands of the US Government now. Do you think they just let people out after one day? They have so many loops to jump through that it's ridiculous.
I give it another month.
