Andy Rubin's tweet was meaningless to 99.999% of the population. Most people are not buying Android phones because Andy Rubin can build from source code. Android phones aren't successful because they are open, they are successful because an advertising company with a smart engineering team (Google) is giving away it's OS to hardware makers.
Maybe you should all focus on NOT bashing MS in 2008. It's pretty boring. Gee, a company trying to force everyone to use their product..how evil!!! Grow up asshats.
I have 10 OS X servers and 8 XRAIDs and Apple really needs to step up to the plate when it comes to enterprise support. We had a hardware downtime that lasted over 20 hours due to Apple inability to troubleshoot failed hardware. We've lost multiple drives in XRAID s over the last 3 weeks. The truth of the matter is that Apple is not interested in getting into the enterprise space in a big way. All they want to really do is sell iMacs and iPods.
OS X Server + LDAP + Workgroup Manager + OS X Clients = been there, done that.
I can lock users out using any optical drive or any external drive. Per user account, not machine.
Some users can burn CDs, others can't. In the drag and drop install world of OS X this makes a lot of sense. Machines I administer belong to the enterprise not the user, the company owns them and dictates how they are used. End of story.
As long the CEOs for these companies are based in the west prices will stay the same and executive management will reap the benefits of higher profit margins.
Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't software prices basically stayed the same since 1983? Software for my C64 was about the same price as software for my PowerBook...
As long as I have mouths to feed and a mortgage to pay, I need my IT job to stay in the US.
Right now, our government is too concerned with a worthless war and lining the administration member's own pockets to even pay attention.
Yeah!! Who needs fuel injection, power brakes or automatic transmissions for that matter?? Hell...who needs computers...we should have stuck with typewriters!!!
PS/2 ports RULE!!
Please! This board is not being targeted for use in servers. Like it or not, USB and Firewire are here to stay. Serial, parallel, ISA, token ring and coax networks are a thing of the past fellow geeks...deal with it now.
Lord lighten up!! I own a TiBook and and iMac DV SE and do not miss being able to play DVDs in OSX AT ALL!! Early adopters of OS X knew that it was lacking in DVD support. We all knew Apple would fix it and they did so please quit whining about it. If you want to watch Josie and the Pussycats in your bunk bed boot into OS 9 and shut up!
Oh BTW...your 'Windows PC'...hmmm... didn't know Microsoft was building PCs these days
Since when did DVD playback become an 'essential' part of the computing experience???
Someone please explain?
Seems like a waste of a computer to me. If you are on a plane, read a book.
He 'took' the key from Adobe and his company was selling it...that is wrong.
The key wasn't given to him by Adobe.
I think selling the code is what got him into this mess. Selling implies a transfer of ownership to the purchaser...but you have to ask "Does buying a stolen good really make it yours?" It's a moral choice....
Let me buy the keys to your car please...
Anything can be monitored. ANYTHING.
I have the ability to remotely view up to 255 users' workstations screens at one time. Without them knowing...
I usually don't view anyone unless we suspect something.
Just remember, company owned equipment is just that...company owned..you have no rights.
M$ porting IE to Linux would benefit ALL of us. It's probably safe to say that most of us are not big fans of M$, but if M$ would give us IE and Outlook Express for Linux it would be a HUGH push for more people to give Linux a shot. Then agian, that's probably why they won't port it... I haven't used Netscape as my Win9x/NT broswer for years only because IE was better, and still is. Microsoft won the browser war because they built a better product, hands down. I don't like to give them undo credit, but they deserve when it comes to browsers. BTW...I'm using Mozilla M16/Mandrake 7.1 right now..what I've seen so far, I like. Keep up the good work!!!

OS X was late and it still overhyped. BTW - I use it everyday
Party favors dude, party favors...ask any woman who has organized a bridal / baby shower...

I've seen Windows Update slow to a crawl MANY,MANY times.
Also the folks who host Macworld are not Apple..it's a publishing group that IS NOT directly affiliated with Apple.
So pull your fucking head out of your ass learn when to open your mouth and when to keep it shut.

Apple seats look better though!

Perhaps we should outsource them...
When all the M$ groupies start spreading this type of crap around it must mean they feel a little jealous and threatened by OS X.
Keep it up Apple!
An 'anti-violence' Republican stop making me laugh!
Next thing your going to tell us is that your gay too!
Very funny!
USB 2.0 still hasn't proven it's faster than FireWire. Granted, the drivers provided probably aren't up to speed yet.

What if I get half-lit on 40 of OE and want to order some ICP? I don't know about you, but I can't type when I've been hittin' the sauce...
