    ith a bank that worked the way Open Source works, Interest Calculations would be done more like this:
    Anna has $1000. Bob has $200. Charlie has $3000.
    Anna receives 5% of $4200 = $210.
    Bob receives 5% of $4200 = $210.
    Charlie receives 5% of $4200 = $210.


    I guess the Open Source Bank would give each of them a third of these 5%, so Anne, Bob and Charlie would get 30$ each (I'd get the remaining 120$ as a consultation fee)...

    I would not not feel confortable if I knew that I wasn't receiving all my email, including the one identified as spam.
    I still have a few correspondants whose mail get flagged and I do not want to lose it.

    My provider just installed it.
    Now, the spam comes with a modified subject (beginning with *****SPAM*****) and a report such as :

    SPAM: so you can recognise or block similar unwanted mail in future.

    Now, I'd suggest you ask your provider to install such a filter on his servers.

    I believe a lot of us actually love to code using vi and gcc and despise most RAD tools.
    Until sooner this year, I usually coded so, especially Qt stuff (the Qt event-slot paradigm is the best programing model since sliced bread).
    I then switched to OSX and must admit that their Interface Builder / Project builder *is* very useable while I could never get properly use MS Visual Studio (C++... VB is okay).
    So, why do you talk ergonomy when other platforms have either a more comfotable programing model or better tools ?

    1. he trolled a troll story
    2. his troll consists of a story describing the legal environment as the opposite of a Free crowd, hence, as an evironment against which Linux people may hhave to fight in order to get their ideas accepted
    3. so, he corroborates the original article and somehow desserves a "+1 Insightful" rather than this useless and pleonasmic "-1 Troll"

    Still, as far as architectures go, Alpha will probably be among my favorites. It was once vastly ahead of its time, if not severely cost-prohibitive.

    Strong ARM are actually a cross between ARMs and Alphas, so what made them so special is everywhere : in the Zaurus, in some telephones, in Palms...

    They should also replace their puny vi implementation with a more modern and useable vim : it is not normal, in 2003 to have vi INSERTING funky characters when the user tries to use the VT keyboard arrows while editing text.
    (Adding Emacs should also prevent most users to do so)
    Well, the above is symptomatic : the Sun platform is a Rolls : very solid but ergonomically showing its age.

    well, my powerbook glows but it's because I am typing it in the dark which the keyboard detected and adjusted itself accordingly...

    In Microsoft Word we timed a search-and-replace of one word in a 1437-page document, and the execution of the auto summarize function on a 210-page document.

    OK, so the Mac takes 5 seconds more than the PC.
    But why is this called "trouncing" ?
    I mean : I hardly edit docs which are more than 100 pages long.
    I Don't use a screen that could render 300fps in Q3, and Premiere seems just quick enough as it is.
