  1. Ahum... on Several Boycotts Of RIAA Organizing · · Score: 1
I will buy only those albums which I have heard and which I enjoy all of. I do not buy albums which have 1 or 2 good songs.

How do you know if an album had *only* good songs? You had to hear it completely before you know you like all the songs, and if I recall well they only play the "best" song of the album on the radio.
I actually *do* buy CD's for 1 or 2 good songs, and I often discovered songs on the album which I liked much better than the one I bought it for. Also I noticed that (when playing a CD often) you start to appreciate the "lesser" songs.
Besides living in Europe, I have no clue how the RIAA (last A = American, no?) has influence over the music here. Of course there are probably similar institutions here...

  3. Burning CD's....two measures for me on Against Intellectual Property · · Score: 1
I've got kids in my school who can barely use AOL burning CDs for a small profit, and their parents think its a good idea, because its more money for the kid to be buying some crappy Abercrambie & Fitch clothes. Our future is in these young people, who believe that violating IP law isn't a problem, and this worries outfits like the RIAA to no end.

I don't think that those kids are the problem. I mean, they don't have the money anyway to buy all the CD's they want (at least, I didn't when I was a kid) I understand them. I even explained how to burn CD's to my sister, but told her not to make profit (I said she could just ask the value of the raw CD rounded up.)

What really makes me mad are collega's at work that want to borrow your CDs, burn it, copy the cover on the fancy color copier at work and think it is okay. It is *not* okay, those guys *have* the money and should pay for the goods they want.

Even tough I *know* that perhaps only 1% of the price of a CD goes into the pocket of the artist, it is my way to thank them for their work that lightens up my life.

And yes, I know...I'm using two measures for the same thing, but is the way I feel.

That was a long time ago on a portable with 350Meg disk and it had also an OS/2 partition (god, I loved that operating system). Note to manage this I had to cheat a few things on the W95-installer, because it was always complaining of lack of diskspace. (I don't recall what I did, it's too long ago) I think your 25Meg estimation a bit on the low side but...you *could* be right

Yes, the swapfile was minuscule...and yes, you didn't want to install anything serious because of the registry inflating so fast. It was in my early days of Windows 95 and I did't want to ditch my beloved (and working) OS/2.

If I had known of Linux in those days...perhaps...I never would have been forced to move to W95.

Considering the huge amount of money put into the development of the DVD technology, I guess that the first thing they would kick out, would be the regional codes...just to save on the $$$ they spent and eventually make it popular.

They can't replace the character, I mean he is the driving force behind the "search for truth". He openend the X-Files (got kicked of them later, I recon) He can't give up (that woudn't fit to the character) so he must die to be replaced. Besides the X-Files are a pain is his superiors a** and they would not replace him but just close the project down.

Scully woudn't be there without him, she would have probably just be some medical-legist-FBI-agent. I don't think she would continue the X-Files alone.

In summary, replacing Mulder is going to kill the series.
