Would one of the 320k icelanders please stand up and make it known who decided to do this. I mean come on this country is smaller than most cities people know. I bet they find out who dun it right quick.
Yeah, they do it this way because they can't just kill that application;) Unlike Android when you leave an application it dies in iOS. Yes they added "multitasking server/client support" but how many apps already do this? Don't confuse elegance with pure necessity.
The last time I messed with an iPod it was not possible to directly copy a music file and play it. I had to use iTunes on windows or MacOS (or a barely working hack on *nix) to copy the file.
Rockbox solved that problem for me, no more bullshit ipod database
>>>it's all the overhead it takes to support the roadways.
Supporting railways has FAR more overhead. Laying the rails for one thing, and maintaining them. Second there's the lost time of having people standing-around waiting for the damn train. My boss spend 1.5 hours on his train commute; I only take 45 minutes. Waiting time == non-productive time. And finally because there's no station anywhere near most people homes (I have to walk an hour to get to my station), you have to figure out how to get the people to the train, which is even more overhead to add to the trains' cost.
If trains were a priority his 1.5 hour amount of time spent would be reduced. This argument is moot it is essentially the chicken in the egg. If we never build the infrastructure you end up with a broken system like ours where BART only services ~20 (if that) stops instead of the whole bay area. Secondly, he has the potential to work on the train. I hope for the sake of the other drivers you aren't working while you are racing along the highway. Over time your 45 minutes and his 1.5 hours would converge and he would have more time to work (if that is your priority). Lets ignore the difference in stress riding a train/shuttle and driving yourself. I ride a shuttle for 2 hours a day and I think if I had to drive in the traffic out here day in and day out I would go insane! Instead I work, read books or even sleep during that time. Wasted time is just completely incorrect. I won't even go into how ridiculous it is to compare your boss's commute to yours, what about the people that live right next to the train station?
For the uninformed a quick google on non-compete for the state of California reveals, they are illegal: http://www.google.com/search?q=non-compete+california&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&lr=lang_en
Is it just me or does it some obvious that you could just dump the stream then use tcpreplay to send the stream back and anaylze the packets it is sending to the webserver? Pick intervals and ranges of packets send them and see what the webserver does. That seems like a pretty straight forward way to narrow down what is going on.
Well I guess there is nothing more to say there, Microsoft is officially seen by India as Satan's hell spawn. When God's Own Country chooses the people follow!
I say it is about time they start owning up to offering lots of bandwidth without really being able to handle it. ISPs are constantly offering sh!tloads of bandwidth at a high price and never really giving the user that bandwidth. First give me what I pay for then we will talk about a tiered level.
They need to say f!ck the pirates and understand that their content is going to be copied even if they don't offer tv downloads. But, I am sure there are a ton of people out there that would pay the dollar or whatever to download a mpeg4 copy of the episode, giving the company a profit for something that might not have been paid for at all. If they use the streaming idea people are just going to ignore their misguided attempt at raping the consumer once again.
It is interesting to see that if a search for linux is inputted in accuna.com microsoft.com (A "sponsored" result) shows up as the first hit. However on google linux.com shows up. Odd....
I would not be worried about the person who is going to steal some information via their USB device. I would be worried about the person who would just send it out over the web. How many office networks have at least port 80 access? That is all you really need to send whatever data you want outside of the company. Most people aren't going to bother transfering stuff on to their mini-drives. They will just send it over the connect you are reading this with.
Yes, I agree with you also. Especially since Microsoft will not allow the codec to be included in installs ever. However, there is still some acceptance take for example UT2004. All the music score is done in ogg vorbis now that is cool! If only all hardware players could play it.
Gig of harddrive space whatever, come on with your witty come backs slashies. Come on "OHh looks like he doesn't read the articles" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I sware if I read one more f$cking google article with gmail attached to it I am going to go insane. Yes, google is amazing. NO I do not want to read about how amazing it is and how I can get a whole whopping gig of memory with this great new email service called GMAIL. Enough is enough! Think I am insane? Look at the history of how many stories have gmail and google in the title for the last couple weeks. Can we say get some real news?
This is a great idea, but there is one flaw. Viruses/Worms can just kill this mutex identifiying agent. What do you think happens when people try to scan their drives with known virus scanners to remove these problems? The virus scan just quietly quits. In some cases the gui for the virus scan is just a frontend and killing the backend correctly can make the gui report no viruses found. For something like this to work it would have to be inserted in to the kernel, a process can be killed.

They should have called the command vudo.
As the latest DLL vulnerability has shown, Mac OS X is in trouble.
So does this mean we will get video directly from the battlefield to wikileaks? :D

How is this google's? Sure it is hosted on code.google.com but I see no link to google itself doing this.

The question is what does this system define as a worm. SQL Slammer was considered a worm and it sent UDP traffic, which is spoofable.
