    AVG is ICSA Certified. Period.

I used to work for the International Computer Security Association, now TruSecure. Go to the Labs, Anti-Virus links to find certified products. They do AV Software testing. I've seen how the testing labs are run and read the certification requirements (very stringent). If a product earns an ICSA certification, it's as good as the rest of the certified products. Everything else between certified brands of AV products is just user oriented bells and whistles.

I buy the cheapest ICSA certified AV product I can find because I know it's as protective as the more expensive ones.

Every few months??? Try once a month. And that's even on normal/economy printing. I don't just print e-mails. Among other things, I also print companion albums of my digital photos when I burn them on CD. I'm not so stupid that I will buy $600 worth of ink cartridges per year when I can take 10-20 minutes a month to refill them at a rate of about $100/year. And that's including replacement carts after about 5 refills.

My nearly perfect sequence for a worry-free refill on an HP cartridge for an 800 series printer.

    1. Act immediately - When it's running out of ink, you have better luck refilling it before the ink dries in the nozzles
    2. Use only the suggested amount of ink recommended by the refill kit. Don't top-off and suck back a bit of ink to make a cartridge full.
    3. When done, squeeze sides slightly while closing off fill hole. Another reason why you don't fill to the brim.
    4. Let the printhead fully sit on blotting paper for 5-10 minutes (prop up cartridge with some loose change)
    5. Carefully wipe clean the printhead and insert in printer. Do full print tests, cleaning, and alignment.

I say 'nearly-perfect' because I found that sometimes, I needed to do a little more blotting before everything is perfect.

That's never been an issue. There are people at work who know how I log onto the network. I even challenged them to try to log in using their choice of items on and in my desk, office, pockets, wallet. Of course, I ended up having to ask IT to reset my password (in person) so I could change it after the failed attempts.

The nice thing about technology is that in most cases, some people carry at least a half dozen or more acceptable bar codes with them without even knowing it. Have you ever gone shopping lately? Some stores now print bar codes on their receipts. These are useful sources of barcodes. The supply of barcodes change frequently. Don't forget the barcodes on the books on your bookshelf, software CDs, music CDs, UPS slips, boxes with shipping labels, etc.

My point is, there's far too many to try for someone to try and get it right. A major deterrent for those attempting to get in. Because after hours, it's 5 times and your done.

That's an understandable perception and theoretically will work. Consider this enlightenment and not a flame.

Current FM radio modulates the signal above and below the designated carrier frequency. Therefore a 20Khz signal (peak of human hearing) will modulate a 95.3MHz carrier between 95.28 and 95.32MHz. IIRC the full 40Khz deviation accounts for both channels of a stereo broadcast.

There's additional use for Broadcast radio. I forget where I saw it, but I believe there is an offset from the designated frequency to place a mono only 20Khz band away from the stereo part of the transmission for mono FM radios to pick up properly. This may however be an outdated use of the extra bandwidth.

Additional bandwidth can be used for other data/audio signals to be carried independent of the main broadcast for Broadcast FM plus 'padding' between stations.

I use a dissected CueCat for password entry. All I need to do is remember where I kept, stored, tucked, stuck, shoved the item with the code on it, scan it, and I'm logged onto the company network.

People may find a myriad of scannable codes on or near my desk at any given time. The trick is to know which one it is unless I carry it with me. Five attempts at a wrong password locks out the account. Due to the significant amount of digits, the IT department STILL has yet to crack my password using their cracking tools.

We're required (forced) to change our passwords at regular intervals. Since I've been scanning things, I have not found that an inconvenience.

Some children simply want to play the games offered by current kids web sites. Maybe some of the mismatched banner ads could disappear from current 'children' web sites. I saw a nickjr.com page that popped up an ad for new Ford trucks. WTF??? Talk about poor target marketing. Why not just make it a Casino ad instead.

I have a hard time envisioning doubleclick.kids.us. However, if they pop up koolaid ads or something, I wouldn't be 'nearly' as disappointed.

So, with the iPaq (which I bought at $500), I bought a PCMCIA adaptor (which greatly thickens the handheld) for $100 used (Retails for $149) so I could use my PCMCIA Ethernet card. Well, when I got it, I found out that it doesn't support ALL PCMCIA ethernet cards. So I would have had to buy another one. The supported cards cost in excess of $100. That would have totaled $700, just to attempt to surf the net from my easy chair. Add an additional amount for a wireless card and access point for true mobility.

I sold it all to someone at work and got 100% back on my investment ($600).

Took the money, bought a developer's version of the Zaurus @ $399, a CF Ethernet card for $100, AND a 64MB MMC memory card for $75 and I was 'going mobile' so to speak from my easy chair. I even had plenty of room to DL files off of MP3.com or IUMA. The remaining $25 went to a good meal at a local restaurant.

The apps sync fine on my Win98 setup at work. The Sync button even works as it should IF USING THE Intellisync Software. I haven't tested the other sync software that came with it.

As for the amount of apps, give it time. The first Palm apps were few and far between when it appeared on the market. The Zaurus has a Java VM and you can write/compile Java apps right on the Zaurus. There's plenty of Java stuff to tinker with.
