    . . .there were two failures: the parachute release and the burn length. But both were likely set in the software on the lander, so I suspect parameters got borked somehow.

    Additionally, if the burn was shorter than planned, that would put significantly more fuel on board when the catastropic 'landing' occured. Which, depending on the propellant, could have caused an explosion at the crash site. That would likely scatter the remains, but should leave a notable mark on the soil. . .

    "Huddle", the collaboration software.

    Some stuff, we never see, but others have useful commercial and private uses. It's not AUTOMATICALLY bad because the CIA thought it was nifty technology that could use some angel investing. . .

    With the Samsung, pulled, that leaves 2 remaining choices. A 50-50 split is pretty much expected, all things being equal. But, as noted elsewhere, at least with the Pixel, you're still in the Android ecosystem. . .

Of course, politics driven by contributions from contractors and featherbedding pretty much GUARANTEES work designed to last only a year or three. . . .so new contracts can be let to donors. . . and the cycle goes on.

    Want less environmental impact ? Fund better design and implementation, and actually fund maintenance, as politically unsexy as it may be. . .

  20. Best severance deal I ever got was 90 days notice, immediate release to 100% job-hunting (i.e. Cube, Net, and Phone, but outside the work area), and 6 months benefits after my last day. That was a major US corp, rhymes with "Going". . .

    Most places I've worked didn't give ANY severance..
